[00:00:00] I think I'm saying that we struggle all our lives to answer it. That it's the struggle that is important. That's what helps us to define our place in the universe.
[00:00:11] This is, uh, Beverly. Dr. Beverly. Dr. Dr. Beverly Crusher.
[00:00:17] Honest. Forceful. Trusting. Brilliant. Strong. And adventurous. And this is Crusher Convo.
[00:00:29] Hey guys, and welcome to Crusher Convo where we're crushing the conversation one episode at a time.
[00:00:35] Welcome to my React and Review of the final season of Star Trek Lower Decks.
[00:00:39] And today we are going to be talking about two episodes that they dropped Dos Cerritos and Shades of Green.
[00:00:47] So I can't wait to talk to you about that. But I do want to talk real fast.
[00:00:53] I feel like I've posted way too many of these.
[00:00:57] Um, but I did want to mention the sad passing of Jerry Taylor, who of course was just a pioneer for women when it came to Star Trek.
[00:01:09] She broke so many barriers. She was like a supervising producer, co-executive producer, and then went into executive producer showrunner for the next generation.
[00:01:19] She co-created Voyager. She wrote episodes for DS9, Voyager, TNG.
[00:01:24] She was one of the best out there. And as you can see, just in Jerry's work, she teleplayed and wrote many great episodes like Suddenly Human, Final Mission, Night Terrors, The Drumhead, The Wounded, Silicon Avatar, Unification 1 where we get Spock back, Violations, The Outcast, Times Arrow 2, Aquiel, and Descent.
[00:01:52] And of course, she was part of Sub Rosa.
[00:01:56] But yeah, I just wanted to say that the fans are very sad.
[00:02:03] This is, I want to say the third loss we've had in just a matter of a few months.
[00:02:08] It's just one of those things that's just like, it's just, it sucks.
[00:02:14] Like, I can't, I can't tell you how much it sucks, but it sucks.
[00:02:17] And I don't.
[00:02:20] Oh, yeah.
[00:02:21] So Chris from First Flight Podcast, he shared about her passing on Twitter and had done a quote of Jerry's.
[00:02:32] And it said here, I identify with Janeway.
[00:02:35] I'm a woman of authority, unique in Star Trek.
[00:02:37] I have a staff that I work with and take responsibility for.
[00:02:41] So I bring my personality to bear on this job.
[00:02:44] Naturally, it is those sensibilities that I tap into when I write Janeway.
[00:02:49] And I actually am a manager in my department.
[00:02:52] I have 18 people under me.
[00:02:55] And my other two managers are also women.
[00:02:58] And we basically, we're at the helm of our job.
[00:03:04] And we take care of it.
[00:03:06] So it's people like Jerry that kind of just paved the wave for people like us now, you know, us millennials and Gen Z generation.
[00:03:16] So I think that was very, very special.
[00:03:19] And I just wanted to bring that up.
[00:03:23] And also not a visitor because her book had just come out, open a channel.
[00:03:28] She didn't get all the interviews of people that she talked to.
[00:03:31] And Jerry was one of them.
[00:03:32] And so she posted a video over on her Instagram for open a channel.
[00:03:38] It's called at Nana open channel.
[00:03:40] So go check it out.
[00:03:41] She talks about her interview with Jerry.
[00:03:43] It's really, really good.
[00:03:44] And I think you guys would enjoy it.
[00:03:46] Okay.
[00:03:47] So, but we are here to talk about the final season of Lower Decks.
[00:03:53] And I am super excited.
[00:03:54] These two episodes were loads of fun.
[00:03:56] And I am just really sad to know that this is the final season.
[00:04:03] I'm kind of getting Picard vibes.
[00:04:05] We knew season three was going to be the final season.
[00:04:08] So as we were waiting to see all of our favorite characters come back, we were enjoying every second of it.
[00:04:17] Right.
[00:04:17] And that's what I feel like with this final season of Lower Decks.
[00:04:20] I am just absorbing every second of this and, you know, trying to hang on as much as I can.
[00:04:29] So, but yeah, we have a couple of people that have joined us over on Instagram.
[00:04:32] So hello.
[00:04:35] And yeah, I guess we'll go ahead and get started.
[00:04:39] This first episode is called Dos Sorritos.
[00:04:43] It's almost like we represent each other's lives if we'd made slightly dissimilar choices or something.
[00:04:46] I wonder what we'll find out is different about the two of us.
[00:04:49] I don't know.
[00:04:50] We seem pretty similar to me.
[00:04:52] Oh man, I can't wait till you teach me how you got all these sweet mods.
[00:04:55] My augmentations are not sweet.
[00:04:57] They allow me to perform at peak efficiency.
[00:04:59] Ha ha!
[00:05:02] This is what I'm saying, right?
[00:05:04] This is just, ah, I'm going to miss these characters so, so much.
[00:05:09] So, of course, I had done a quick, like, TikTok Instagram video of where I was saying that these
[00:05:16] two episodes are kind of representing one is like really on about the crew.
[00:05:21] The second episode was really about Tandy being, you know, with the Orions and a pirate.
[00:05:26] But I knew they kind of intertwined with each other.
[00:05:28] So it wasn't necessarily a two-parter.
[00:05:31] We got two different stories.
[00:05:32] But it could have been a two-parter because of how they intertwined those stories.
[00:05:38] So I think this was just a really great start to it.
[00:05:42] Of course, it's just another issue for the Cerritos.
[00:05:45] I think Freeman, what does she call it?
[00:05:48] She called it space-time potholes.
[00:05:51] I guess that's a good way of putting it.
[00:05:53] Got to close those up so we don't have any parallels and interdimensional problems.
[00:05:57] And, of course, they do.
[00:06:00] But, you know, the first thing that we see is Tandy is a pirate.
[00:06:03] And she's trying to fulfill her sister's wishes so that she can go back to Starfleet.
[00:06:08] Okay.
[00:06:08] And then, of course, we go back to the Cerritos.
[00:06:11] And we're seeing, you know, their junior grade officers now.
[00:06:15] And they kind of feel like they've kind of, you know, they're kind of worried or feel like
[00:06:20] they hit their stride because, you know, Boimler did a big thing about being the captain
[00:06:25] in the end of last season.
[00:06:27] And now he just feels like he's plateaued.
[00:06:30] And then Mariner doesn't seem like she really wants to really go far with her career.
[00:06:39] And this episode really just shows that's really what she wants.
[00:06:44] She does not want to be a captain.
[00:06:45] She doesn't want to be authoritative.
[00:06:50] And it was kind of interesting because I kind of saw a shift between Boimler and Mariner here.
[00:06:55] She was kind of being more responsible.
[00:06:57] And he was kind of being like, I don't know.
[00:07:00] And I think it's because of how they saw their other selves because they made slight choices
[00:07:07] that other Boimler because, you know, they went through the rift.
[00:07:11] And I think what did Ransom say?
[00:07:13] He's like, we're being dunked like a giant cookie or something like that.
[00:07:16] And so what was just funny about it is that they see their other halves and Mariner is a captain.
[00:07:25] She's Becky Freeman.
[00:07:27] No idea where Carol Freeman is.
[00:07:30] And then the other Boimler has a beard.
[00:07:34] He's very Riker.
[00:07:35] That's the feeling that I got.
[00:07:38] And so very confident, just like, oh, yeah, everything's cool.
[00:07:42] We got this.
[00:07:42] No big deal.
[00:07:44] Was kind of even given his, our Boimler, like a pep talk, you know, like, oh, you know, you got this.
[00:07:51] Don't worry.
[00:07:51] Just don't worry about anything and you'll succeed.
[00:07:56] And I think that was awesome that they were showing that because they were kind of getting an idea of like, you know,
[00:08:02] when you do make decisions in your life, it could take you in a different road.
[00:08:08] So I enjoyed that.
[00:08:10] Of course, we are also seeing the Rutherford, I could speak today, side of his loss of Tendi.
[00:08:19] You know, you automatically saw him in the beginning of the episode.
[00:08:22] He looks like he hasn't been sleeping.
[00:08:24] He's been keeping himself busy.
[00:08:25] He doesn't want to feel that sadness.
[00:08:28] So he's trying to preoccupy himself to do things that makes him just emotionless from losing Tendi.
[00:08:41] And it's funny because Mariner and Boimler are kind of like, okay, we'll be careful.
[00:08:46] But it was to Lynn that makes the step up here in these two episodes, especially in the second one, which we'll talk about later.
[00:08:57] But yeah, so we see the other Cerritos.
[00:09:01] Everyone's a little different, but kind of similar.
[00:09:05] And as you saw in that clip, they were like, just slight changes.
[00:09:08] But when it comes to Becky versus Mariner, huge difference.
[00:09:17] And this Becky is not cool.
[00:09:20] Like she's using fear to control her team.
[00:09:23] And she had a whip at some point where she's all like, nope, they're either your crew or your friends.
[00:09:31] And it was like, you can't have both.
[00:09:33] Which technically true.
[00:09:36] Like when you have workers, you know, employees under you, you're not their friend.
[00:09:41] But there is a line of respect there that you need to have and be there for them when they need it the most.
[00:09:49] Because you don't want to be this dictator kind of a boss, right?
[00:09:52] You want to be able to understand their situations.
[00:09:55] And, you know, you still have a job to do.
[00:09:57] You still have a business to run.
[00:09:58] But, you know, you're not going to be cracking that whip and not caring who these people are that are doing the hard work for you, right?
[00:10:07] So this is what Mariner is seeing.
[00:10:09] And, of course, Boimler seeing something else and Ruffinford seeing something else.
[00:10:14] But the pretty much all almost Borg-like, like Boimler said.
[00:10:21] And I was curious, though, if Tendi was on the ship.
[00:10:25] Because they said that their Tendi had become a pirate, like a full-time pirate.
[00:10:30] She's that's her.
[00:10:31] I would have liked to see, saw the two Tendis, you know.
[00:10:36] So this kind of gave me Prodigy vibes, though, because we saw the two, the holodeck versions of themselves.
[00:10:44] I kind of had a similar feeling.
[00:10:47] I think also what was funny is where they were questioning what was the prime universe versus fake, you know.
[00:10:56] That made me think, though, like, what exactly is prime universe?
[00:11:01] Like, what are the other dimensions think?
[00:11:06] Do they know they're in a different universe?
[00:11:08] Like, I was always kind of curious about how that works.
[00:11:11] Of course, that's probably technogabble that we don't really need to get into.
[00:11:16] It will probably give us a headache.
[00:11:17] But it's a question.
[00:11:18] Okay.
[00:11:20] As, of course, Tendi is helping her family.
[00:11:24] She says, you know, her sister's like, you could just do this one job at this old Orion ship and you can go back to Starfleet.
[00:11:32] And they said that they got this from a rogue archaeologist.
[00:11:37] And I thought maybe Petra, which I think she was in season three.
[00:11:44] Or maybe Vosh.
[00:11:46] I don't know.
[00:11:47] Like, we, there's more than one.
[00:11:50] I thought that was kind of, she instantly just came to my mind when they said rogue archaeologist.
[00:11:55] So I was like, I can kind of see her do that.
[00:11:58] So, you know, we'll see if they even mention her later on.
[00:12:05] But one other thing, too, that I had mentioned are just after this clip, Carol Freeman was like, where is the other me?
[00:12:15] And the other ransom was like, let's just say it's good to see you.
[00:12:20] And he gets all teary eyed.
[00:12:22] That's an homage to Riker saying that to Picard in Parallels.
[00:12:27] Okay.
[00:12:29] I clocked that real fast.
[00:12:31] Because I was like, oh, I see what they're doing.
[00:12:34] And of course, I just thought that it was funny that even with the two ransoms, they're like arguing, but they're complimenting each other.
[00:12:44] Like one called himself sexy beast or something.
[00:12:47] The other one called him a hunk.
[00:12:48] And I don't know, which is so ransom, right?
[00:12:50] Like that's so typical ransom stuff.
[00:12:54] But yeah.
[00:12:55] So and then, of course, to Lynn, the same.
[00:12:58] I think one says fascinating.
[00:13:02] The other one says remarkable.
[00:13:03] That was like the only difference.
[00:13:05] Yorg on Twitter did point out, though, the slightly variation of color.
[00:13:10] So the other Cerritos had more of a darker tone to them, while our Cerritos had a more lighter tone.
[00:13:18] So if you kind of look at like the Mariners next to each other, Becky Freeman had a more darker red versus, you know, Beckett Mariner.
[00:13:27] Right.
[00:13:28] So I thought that was a nice little thing to point out.
[00:13:32] Kendi, of course, also runs into blue Orion's.
[00:13:35] Didn't know they exist, but they were reminded me of Paclids.
[00:13:39] And I don't know if that's what they were going for.
[00:13:42] But that's where they were fighting this whole time.
[00:13:45] And that whole arc goes into both episodes between the green Orion's and the blue Orion's.
[00:13:50] And of course, I think the blues called them Orion's.
[00:13:55] So cool.
[00:13:57] OK, that's where I got the Paclid vibe where they were just saying just random silly stuff, you know.
[00:14:05] But but yeah.
[00:14:07] Yeah. So let me see here.
[00:14:09] So.
[00:14:12] When Tendi is fighting against the Orion's, she does heal one of the blue Orion's.
[00:14:18] And that's where this whole thing starts, where they were like, what, you know, dark magic is this kind of kind of thing.
[00:14:26] And at first, her crew is almost about to go against her.
[00:14:28] Right. They're pirates.
[00:14:29] They want to pillage.
[00:14:30] They want to destroy.
[00:14:31] They want to do all that they can.
[00:14:33] But then they kind of just opened up and were like, no, we want to be like you.
[00:14:36] We want to follow our dreams just like you did.
[00:14:38] So we thought this is the way we had to do it because we thought that's how you did it.
[00:14:42] And she's like, no, I just I just went to Starfleet like that was just I wanted to go and I went like I didn't want to be a pirate.
[00:14:50] And I thought that was kind of cool that there was they saw Tendi as an example, you know, that they didn't have to just only be an Orion pirate and they didn't have to just do things that they didn't want to do.
[00:15:06] Because she was even saying, like, stop the killing.
[00:15:08] Like, I'm tired of you trying to kill people.
[00:15:10] And they're like, oh, yeah, killing.
[00:15:12] It's just, you know, cleaning blood is just annoying.
[00:15:14] You know, it's just kind of this random stuff.
[00:15:18] But I thought that was cool to see Tendi in that role because she always tried to hide behind the science these last few seasons.
[00:15:29] Last season, we saw her that she was the mistress of the winter constellations or something.
[00:15:36] So she had a big role that she didn't want.
[00:15:39] Right.
[00:15:40] She wanted to I just want to be with the science and be in the background and just do what I love to do.
[00:15:46] And these Orion saw her in his example of like, oh, I could do that, too, which is a perfect example of how the women of Trek like Nana had written in her book.
[00:15:56] These characters that the women played set examples for female viewers to go and do big things, become doctors, become engineers, become, you know, astronauts.
[00:16:10] And I think that was kind of Mike's way of bringing that part into the story.
[00:16:16] Right.
[00:16:19] So I liked that.
[00:16:20] I liked that a lot.
[00:16:21] They were they were using each character for a different emotion and different way of life and how how they handled it.
[00:16:29] Of course, as all this is going on.
[00:16:34] It's time to send the other three are Cerritos back through the quantum fisher.
[00:16:40] I think it was.
[00:16:41] I'm hoping I'm getting all this technobabble, right?
[00:16:43] I'm doing this out of my out of memory here.
[00:16:46] I only took about three or four times to watch the episode, but I think I got it.
[00:16:50] But.
[00:16:53] Becky didn't want to didn't want to didn't want to be captain.
[00:16:56] She wanted to just I want to be a loose cannon, just like what we saw season one Mariner was.
[00:17:02] I don't want to do this.
[00:17:03] So I'm going to kidnap you and have you pretend to be captain and I'm going to go in your Cerritos.
[00:17:07] Like that was her.
[00:17:09] That was her idea and thought that was going to work.
[00:17:13] Now Mariner's kind of this really weird part of.
[00:17:19] I'm arguing with myself of who I used to be, right?
[00:17:23] This is who I used to be years ago.
[00:17:26] And now I'm trying to do the right thing and try to tell my other self to do the right thing.
[00:17:31] Like it's a whole again parallel wharf all of it situation.
[00:17:36] And I loved because the Becky had like tied her up and put her in her uniform and she's leaving and she's doing the sarcastic Vulcan salute that we saw like in season one.
[00:17:50] And of course, remember, like Carol was arguing with her about it.
[00:17:53] And she's like, oh, now I know how that feels.
[00:17:57] I thought that was hilarious because I didn't catch that at first.
[00:18:01] And then when I was rewatching, I was like, oh, that's an homage to season one.
[00:18:05] Right.
[00:18:06] So I like those little pieces that Mike put in, you know, and all the writers because they're celebrating all of these seasons, everything that they've gone through.
[00:18:18] And this is where they're at.
[00:18:19] Right.
[00:18:21] One of the things that I absolutely cracked up.
[00:18:27] When, you know, they saved our mariner, they put the other one back on her Cerritos.
[00:18:33] She goes in the brig, all this stuff.
[00:18:35] And, you know, that Boimler is very confident.
[00:18:39] Right.
[00:18:39] He's like, oh, yeah, I could do this, do that.
[00:18:42] And because they were taking Captain Becky to the brig, they were like, Boimler, you now have the bridge.
[00:18:48] And he does the Riker.
[00:18:51] Oh, my gosh.
[00:18:52] The Riker maneuver.
[00:18:54] I was laughing so hard.
[00:18:56] And I'm all.
[00:18:58] Is this a callback because of those old scientists?
[00:19:01] You know, strange new, strange new worlds.
[00:19:03] Like, how is this all working together?
[00:19:06] I just love it.
[00:19:07] I just think that's so cool.
[00:19:09] Oh, look, we have a comment.
[00:19:12] This is from Jay Marie.
[00:19:13] Hi.
[00:19:13] I hope somehow there's more lower decks, more seasons of four lake movies.
[00:19:18] Yes, absolutely.
[00:19:21] I did kind of ask Mike that question.
[00:19:24] So make sure you hit up my interview after this.
[00:19:27] But I hope so, too.
[00:19:29] We definitely want more lower decks.
[00:19:31] And it's very, very sad that we are losing this.
[00:19:34] But what are you going to do?
[00:19:37] Right.
[00:19:37] Like, we wanted more Picard after we had season three.
[00:19:41] We weren't going to get more Picard.
[00:19:43] Legacy, hopefully.
[00:19:45] But I like to think that section 31, Starfleet Academy is going to be coming out.
[00:19:52] We are getting more Trek.
[00:19:53] Right.
[00:19:55] And Tawny is a part of Starfleet Academy.
[00:19:59] And so I kind of feel like we're getting little pieces of lower decks in a way with her being on there.
[00:20:05] And so I'm excited to see how that goes.
[00:20:07] But this animation, this show just really hit all points.
[00:20:16] And we enjoy it for different reasons.
[00:20:20] But we could watch it all the time.
[00:20:22] And that's what I love about it.
[00:20:24] And also to see how these characters have grown over the last few seasons.
[00:20:30] So, but one thing I was kind of confused about.
[00:20:36] So Boimler grabbed a pad from the other Boimler.
[00:20:40] And he was keeping it a secret.
[00:20:42] So does that have like his personal looks on it or something?
[00:20:47] Is he trying to see what the other one did so he could follow the same path?
[00:20:51] I was kind of confused.
[00:20:53] I know at the very, very end when they're in their 10 forward.
[00:20:57] It's not called 10 forward, but that's what I call it.
[00:21:01] He's like, oh my gosh, he made the cover.
[00:21:03] Because, you know, at the beginning of the episode, he didn't even.
[00:21:05] They cut him out of the top 30 under 30.
[00:21:09] Right.
[00:21:09] They put Naomi in there, who's 10 years old, which Tony Pascal from Trek Movie mentioned
[00:21:17] that this is probably now in 2382.
[00:21:23] Because I guess Naomi was born in 2372.
[00:21:28] So they're saying she's 10 years old.
[00:21:30] Then that should be the year.
[00:21:32] I love that he pointed that out.
[00:21:34] I listened to Trek Movie this morning.
[00:21:36] Because I'm a nerd when it comes to dates.
[00:21:39] And then I started thinking, I was like, oh, Jack is a year old or two.
[00:21:44] All right.
[00:21:45] So I wanted to mention that because we never really knew the year.
[00:21:49] We knew it was like 2380 back in season one.
[00:21:52] But we never really knew what was happening since then.
[00:21:54] So it's nice to know if that's been a year or two since that happened.
[00:21:57] But anyways.
[00:21:59] So after all that, the Blue Orion's declared war on Tendi's family.
[00:22:04] And she decided to stay to help her help them with the mess.
[00:22:08] Because she feels like she caused it.
[00:22:11] Because not only did she, they, she healed them with dark magic, which was Starfleet, I think, technology.
[00:22:20] She had also stopped them using laughing gas.
[00:22:24] Though it was Orion technology, they felt that that wasn't right.
[00:22:28] And they're going to pay for it.
[00:22:30] So.
[00:22:31] Again, I didn't even know the word Blue Orion.
[00:22:33] So I'm learning something new every day.
[00:22:36] I guess we'll kind of just jump into Shades of Green.
[00:22:40] I'm going to need to commandeer your hovercruiser, ma'am.
[00:22:43] Official, uh, post-scarcity business.
[00:22:46] Sure.
[00:22:46] I'll just replicate a new one.
[00:22:48] Ah, good for them.
[00:22:50] Let's do this.
[00:22:51] Yes, totally.
[00:22:52] But you are.
[00:22:53] Sitting on it backwards.
[00:22:54] Damn it!
[00:22:56] I don't know about you, but I got Star Wars vibes there.
[00:23:00] So, of course, the Cerita's crew was over on Targalis IX.
[00:23:06] And this society was now eliminating capitalism.
[00:23:10] Okay.
[00:23:11] So no more money and everything like that, which is what the Federation did.
[00:23:15] And so they were helping them with the transition, getting rid of their currency.
[00:23:21] And Boimler was in charge of this away team.
[00:23:23] And, of course, his ensigns get kidnapped.
[00:23:26] Because that's what happens.
[00:23:29] Mariner was part of the team.
[00:23:30] She wasn't in charge.
[00:23:31] And she kind of liked this new Boimler.
[00:23:33] But now she's like, okay, but we really need to tell Ransom what's going on.
[00:23:36] Boimler's like, no, no, no.
[00:23:37] We'll figure it out ourselves.
[00:23:39] This is that switcheroo part, right?
[00:23:41] We always saw Mariner be like, no, no, no, no.
[00:23:43] We'll figure it out.
[00:23:44] Don't include the superior officers.
[00:23:49] And Boimler always wanted to go to the superior officers.
[00:23:51] Now they flipped.
[00:23:52] Now she's trying to do the right thing.
[00:23:54] And he's like, no, no, no.
[00:23:55] I want to do something different.
[00:23:57] So I feel like Boimler is definitely more, I don't want to say the word confident.
[00:24:03] But he's definitely taking risks.
[00:24:06] When before he was way too safe.
[00:24:10] Mariner is, instead of taking risks, she's just kind of taking a step back and trying to think of like, okay, pros and cons.
[00:24:18] Plan A, plan B, which one would work better?
[00:24:20] Okay.
[00:24:23] This is definitely a different Boimler and Mariner that we saw from season one to now.
[00:24:28] Okay.
[00:24:30] So I thought that was cool to see.
[00:24:35] And I'm curious how that will continue for the rest of the season.
[00:24:40] As we're more into the tendy stuff here, she senses something's wrong with her sister.
[00:24:46] They were kind of having like a little sister sleepover kind of thing, trying to figure out what to do with the blue Orions.
[00:24:52] And I clocked it real quick when she was like, I don't feel good.
[00:24:58] Her sister's pregnant.
[00:25:00] But tendy doesn't know this until later because she decides to go in her sister's personal logs, which is a big no-no.
[00:25:07] And, but she finds out she's pregnant and then she becomes overly protective.
[00:25:12] And this is just a typical tendy thing to do, especially since she's a science officer and worked in sick bay.
[00:25:20] She just was like, no, relax.
[00:25:22] Don't do this.
[00:25:22] Don't do that.
[00:25:24] And her sister's like, what the hell are you doing?
[00:25:26] Like I'm a captain.
[00:25:28] I'm a pirate.
[00:25:29] I'm going to fight.
[00:25:29] We're going to do this.
[00:25:31] And tendy kind of made it worse because she was being so overprotective that they ended up crash landing because they had to do, um, they had to go see like the pirate queen.
[00:25:43] I didn't even know there was a pirate queen, but they see the pirate queen.
[00:25:47] She's like, you guys should have, shouldn't have been doing this.
[00:25:49] So now you guys are going to basically fight to the death, but whoever wins the other one gets your, your fortune.
[00:25:57] Okay.
[00:25:58] So it was, this was a big deal.
[00:26:00] It was supposed to be a race.
[00:26:01] Blue orioners are trying to cheat.
[00:26:03] You know how it is, but because tendy was so overprotective, they ended up crash landing.
[00:26:11] And now they have to figure out how to get out of it and stop the blue orions.
[00:26:15] And this is where I said, I support the cutie because she's telling her crew like, okay, we're going to do a mutiny, but we're going to do it very gentle and nice.
[00:26:25] And they're like, what?
[00:26:26] And she's like, just follow me.
[00:26:28] And of course her sister's like, what the hell is wrong with you?
[00:26:30] And when she finally tells her, I know you're pregnant and I'm worried about you.
[00:26:34] And she's like, I'm fine.
[00:26:36] And everyone knew about it, but you, and it wasn't because she didn't trust tendy.
[00:26:40] It was because she didn't want tendy to give up her dreams to stay and train her daughter, because I guess that's Orion law.
[00:26:49] So it was really sweet moment that they were taking.
[00:26:53] And this whole time they were taking care of each other and they didn't realize it, at least for tendy didn't realize it.
[00:27:01] But it was one of those things that tendy had to learn to trust, right?
[00:27:08] She, she didn't really trust her sister to make the right decisions for herself.
[00:27:13] Her sister's the one that's pregnant.
[00:27:14] If she thinks that she can go kick butt climbing up rope with a dagger in her mouth and whatever she needs to do, let her do it.
[00:27:21] You know what I mean?
[00:27:24] I thought this was a good representation that women can do anything, even when they're pregnant.
[00:27:36] And then of course, when you go back to Mariner and Boimler trying to figure out how to get the ensigns back and they, they kind of like these.
[00:27:50] Android gardeners are now guards and they are keeping them hostage.
[00:27:55] But it was just really funny because their ensigns died.
[00:27:59] And that's where Boimler then got pissed because he's all like, we're going to go after you.
[00:28:03] And he's doing CPR.
[00:28:04] And it was just, it was so funny.
[00:28:06] But Mariner's all like, what the heck is going on?
[00:28:11] And it's just like these situations that they're put into.
[00:28:13] And they're like, just what the crap, man?
[00:28:15] I'm like, what, what else, what other shoe is going to drop at this situation?
[00:28:19] But I thought it was so funny.
[00:28:21] And then, but the ensigns weren't dead.
[00:28:24] They just were pretending to be dead because they were following Boimler's points.
[00:28:28] He was calling them bointers.
[00:28:31] And it was his pointers.
[00:28:33] And he's like, you know, use your legs to lift things and do this.
[00:28:38] And they learned that.
[00:28:40] And they survived being captive because of what they learned from Boimler.
[00:28:43] So even though Boimler thinks that he's this epic failure as a leader, his crew, his ensigns were always watching him.
[00:28:53] And they took his advice and they survived.
[00:28:57] I love just how full circle this is all coming.
[00:28:59] Everything, right?
[00:29:01] Everything just seemed to be pointed in this direction.
[00:29:05] And it's going to continue this direction up until the series finale.
[00:29:10] So I'm very, very curious how this is going to go.
[00:29:12] And I'm very, very excited.
[00:29:14] One other thing that was also going on during this time was Rutherford and T'Lynn.
[00:29:23] And Rutherford, of course, is still upset with Tendi being gone.
[00:29:27] And I guess they always had taken care of that shuttlecraft.
[00:29:32] And T'Lynn was trying to help him.
[00:29:35] And she was all like, I need a partner to learn these things.
[00:29:38] And I want you to teach me.
[00:29:39] And he was very distant because he didn't want anyone to take Tendi's place.
[00:29:45] And he was almost holding on to that shuttlecraft.
[00:29:47] So then, like, the longer it took to put together maybe his hopes that she would come back.
[00:29:52] Right?
[00:29:52] Because he doesn't know if she's coming back.
[00:29:55] And all of a sudden, T'Lynn, though, goes and fixed the shuttlecraft.
[00:29:59] And he got upset because he's like, no, this is what I was holding on to.
[00:30:03] And you ruined it.
[00:30:04] And, of course, she's at first confused because logical mind.
[00:30:09] And then she admits, well, I was lying to you.
[00:30:13] I didn't need a partner.
[00:30:14] I didn't need to learn things.
[00:30:15] I just noticed that you've been so down and distant that I tried to be there for you.
[00:30:20] And then he felt bad.
[00:30:23] And then he realized, I really need to stop.
[00:30:27] You know, Tendi might not come back.
[00:30:29] And I need to move on from that.
[00:30:31] Right?
[00:30:33] But, of course, Tendi does.
[00:30:34] And what's funny is T'Lynn, like, she didn't know that Tendi was coming back.
[00:30:42] But she went and just destroyed the shuttlecraft so they could restart it altogether.
[00:30:48] So it was just funny because this was just a nice little moment of T'Lynn's little growth that we see from where she started.
[00:30:56] Because she was supposed to go on a Vulcan ship.
[00:30:59] And she decided to stay.
[00:31:01] And now she's become part of this crew.
[00:31:04] Because before it was the four.
[00:31:05] Now there's the five.
[00:31:08] And it kind of reminds me of Majel in Prodigy.
[00:31:12] Because before it was the six.
[00:31:13] And now it's the seven.
[00:31:16] And, you know, and she was an important part of the team.
[00:31:19] One little thought, though, that I haven't mentioned yet.
[00:31:22] When Tendi was leaving.
[00:31:25] Ended up losing completely.
[00:31:27] Right?
[00:31:27] She thought, we'll have a tie.
[00:31:29] The Orion Pirate Queen will be great.
[00:31:31] You know, because she ended up destroying the loot from the Blue Orions.
[00:31:36] Pirate Queen was pissed and she took all of their fortune from both houses.
[00:31:40] Okay?
[00:31:40] So now her family's poor.
[00:31:42] And she felt bad.
[00:31:43] But she went back to Starfleet.
[00:31:44] And her sister was all like, I guess they were saying about how she was going to visit.
[00:31:50] Because she's like, I want to squish that little baby.
[00:31:52] And she's like, and teach her some swashbuckling tips.
[00:31:55] And she's like, oh, I'm already worried that the baby's going to be deadly or something.
[00:32:00] She's like, you're going to make a great mom.
[00:32:03] I loved that quote.
[00:32:06] It's just like so out there, but so sincere.
[00:32:09] Right?
[00:32:10] And, but it ended up working out.
[00:32:13] Because the Cerritos was going to be destroying all of that money and gold and jewels from,
[00:32:22] what was it, Targalis 9.
[00:32:26] And then it was like, oh, wait a second.
[00:32:28] I know who to give it to.
[00:32:29] So it was given to Tendi's family.
[00:32:32] So they're no longer poor.
[00:32:34] And then they had like the Blue Orions as like their, their servants.
[00:32:38] So this whole thing with the Blue Orions came down to that.
[00:32:42] And I thought that was a funny way to end it.
[00:32:47] And so, yeah, that was, those were the two episodes.
[00:32:52] And I stupidly forgot to rate this, you know, put up my polls and stuff of how you guys would rate it.
[00:33:00] And so I had to kind of do a last minute run through of how this looked.
[00:33:07] And so for an hour on my Twitter only, I got five votes.
[00:33:17] 80 percent.
[00:33:19] Four.
[00:33:20] Four votes out of the five.
[00:33:22] Gave it five bearded Boimlers.
[00:33:24] No one gave it four Orions or one and two wing slug rolls, which apparently is the delicacy for her sister during her pregnancy.
[00:33:34] But one vote gave it three mistresses of winter.
[00:33:39] So and I was having you guys vote both of these episodes combined.
[00:33:44] So one and two instead of separating them.
[00:33:47] But yeah, everyone seems to really, really have enjoyed these, this episodes.
[00:33:53] And I enjoyed it, too.
[00:33:55] It was a really good start.
[00:33:57] It's getting me excited.
[00:33:58] I can't wait to see what else is happening.
[00:34:01] Oh, just sad.
[00:34:03] Like, I'm just overall sad.
[00:34:04] And I know all of us are to know that this is ending.
[00:34:08] And I'm very excited to see what else is to come.
[00:34:12] I, you know, deep down, I really want like Beverly Crusher to make an appearance.
[00:34:17] But I doubt that's going to happen.
[00:34:19] I mean, I don't want to get my hopes up due to the fact that there's really no place for Beverly to be in it.
[00:34:27] I think the way that they did in Prodigy was perfect.
[00:34:30] Right.
[00:34:31] That worked out so well.
[00:34:33] And it made so much sense with Wesley and why she appeared.
[00:34:37] There's really no reason to bring in Beverly Crusher, especially at this time, because she should have already left Starfleet.
[00:34:44] She should already have like a baby Jack.
[00:34:46] And it's just kind of one of those things where it's just like, that's a shoehorn.
[00:34:51] Right.
[00:34:52] Just because I want a character in there.
[00:34:53] You know, it's it would be a little difficult to put that in.
[00:34:57] But I.
[00:35:00] If they had more seasons, we could have probably seen them.
[00:35:05] Maybe we could have even seen Wesley, could have seen, you know, baby Jack.
[00:35:09] I don't know.
[00:35:10] But it was so much fun to just see these characters again.
[00:35:14] And if we don't get them in live action, it's just great to see them in animated forms.
[00:35:20] And so, yeah, it's definitely a bummer that this is the last season.
[00:35:25] But I can't wait to see where this this heads.
[00:35:29] I was also going to say something about Ransom.
[00:35:32] He seemed a little bit more encouraging than normal.
[00:35:38] And we did kind of see a difference of him last season.
[00:35:41] That's kind of playing a role here where he was just like, oh, you guys got this.
[00:35:45] No big deal.
[00:35:46] I mean, he did pip them.
[00:35:48] They are now junior grade lieutenants.
[00:35:49] So he definitely has faith in them.
[00:35:53] But he was almost kind of being like that other Boimler, like, oh, don't worry about it.
[00:35:57] It will take care of itself.
[00:35:58] You guys will be fine.
[00:35:59] You know, so that I'm wondering if we're going to see a difference with him.
[00:36:05] If we're going to see any difference with the other characters going into this.
[00:36:09] You know, it'll be interesting to see.
[00:36:12] That's really all I had to say.
[00:36:14] I just wanted to mention these little things.
[00:36:18] And some of these episodes, I might have a guest with me to discuss the episodes.
[00:36:22] Some of them I might not.
[00:36:24] And, you know, it's just one of those things where I'm just enjoying these last moments with them.
[00:36:33] So, guys, right after this episode.
[00:36:42] So in another, like, 15 minutes.
[00:36:44] My interview with Mike McMahon is going to drop.
[00:36:48] And I'm calling it Farrell Cerritos.
[00:36:50] And it was such a wonderful time talking with Mike.
[00:36:56] And just like how his premiere of the final season is dropping two episodes, so am I.
[00:37:02] So stay tuned here on my channel.
[00:37:05] And you get to see the full interview that I have with Mike.
[00:37:10] And, you know, I asked him questions about just kind of how the season's going to go.
[00:37:14] And we also, like I said, gushed about the crushers.
[00:37:18] And that was loads of fun.
[00:37:19] He really loves his trek.
[00:37:21] And you can tell.
[00:37:23] An honor to speak with him and so much fun.
[00:37:25] And, yeah.
[00:37:27] So I hope you stay and watch that and enjoy it.
[00:37:31] And let me know what you think.
