[00:00:00] I think I'm saying that we struggle all our lives to answer it.
[00:00:04] But it's the struggle that is important.
[00:00:07] That's what helps us to define our place in the universe.
[00:00:10] This is Beverly, Dr. Beverly, Dr. Beverly Crusher.
[00:00:15] Honest.
[00:00:17] Forceful.
[00:00:19] Trusting.
[00:00:20] Brilliant.
[00:00:22] Strong.
[00:00:24] Adventurous.
[00:00:26] And this is Crusher Convo.
[00:00:29] Hello, everyone.
[00:00:30] And welcome to Crusher Convo, where we are crushing the conversation one episode at a time.
[00:00:36] And the prophets have shined down on Jay and he is here with us today.
[00:00:42] No hurricane.
[00:00:43] I hear it's sunny over there in Canada.
[00:00:46] Yes, well, I mean not in all of Canada, I'm sure, but my area at least.
[00:00:50] In your little section.
[00:00:53] Yeah, last week was was interesting for you.
[00:00:56] Yeah.
[00:00:57] Yeah, it was it was a lot of rain.
[00:00:59] It was it was crazy.
[00:01:01] A lot of rain.
[00:01:02] Yeah.
[00:01:02] At least you got to join us, you know, so that's what's.
[00:01:07] Yeah, I got to I did what I could in the chat.
[00:01:09] So this.
[00:01:11] Well, it worked.
[00:01:13] It worked out perfectly.
[00:01:14] So and I know the sci-fi remnant was here as well.
[00:01:19] So that was a lot of fun last week, especially as we were talking about Wesley Crusher.
[00:01:22] It's nice to have other people chime in.
[00:01:26] I know, so excited.
[00:01:28] Well, as you could see here, we are going to be talking about episode 11 through 15 of season two of Star Trek Prodigy.
[00:01:36] And I'm super excited about this one because this is where as you could see under my name, Beverly's bad.
[00:01:43] So, yay, I was can't wait to get into that episode.
[00:01:47] But of course we have to get into the fact that they found Chacote on the last one.
[00:01:53] So let's go ahead and see a clip of believe it is the last flight of the Potestar.
[00:01:59] So let's get that going to protect the Federation.
[00:02:03] We stranded ourselves on this island so the weapon on board that ship never falls into hands like hers.
[00:02:09] When it's not like the other round the car and that weapon relax.
[00:02:14] We already set it off.
[00:02:16] You what?
[00:02:18] Easy, easy. We blew up our ship.
[00:02:21] You mean my ship?
[00:02:23] No, the one we found. We saved the Federation.
[00:02:28] But the found the cut weapon on board is...
[00:02:33] Our fleet already knows they're ready. It's not a threat anymore.
[00:02:36] That's why we're happy to see hologram Janeway.
[00:02:39] I can't wait to get back into Admiral Janeway about this.
[00:02:46] For all those JC fans, this was a good episode.
[00:02:51] Oh for sure, for sure.
[00:02:53] As a Procresher fan my I was overjoyed for JC fans.
[00:02:59] Though one thing that we have talked about as everyone knows,
[00:03:03] Jay was in my to Vicks episode which we will talk a little bit later on.
[00:03:08] But the big is is that we always had said that Chacote was very one dimensional.
[00:03:13] There was this one way street with Chacote.
[00:03:20] Not that that was a bad thing in certain Voyager episodes,
[00:03:24] but it also didn't help in certain episodes by 2Fix.
[00:03:27] I think with this episode specifically, Chacote was enough.
[00:03:35] This was a side of Chacote we've never seen.
[00:03:37] Yeah, I think Robert Beltran got to shine a little bit in this episode.
[00:03:44] And flush out Chacote.
[00:03:47] It's sad to say that about a character that had 7 full seasons,
[00:03:51] but flush him out a little more and give us something.
[00:03:54] But at least he got it at some point, right?
[00:03:56] Yeah, that's true.
[00:03:59] I've talked to you about my opinions on Chacote's character.
[00:04:03] He was absolutely right.
[00:04:05] He was one dimensional and I think that's just the writers didn't do much with him.
[00:04:11] But rewatching some of Voyager lately,
[00:04:16] I've stopped for a bit but I'm going to get back to it.
[00:04:17] But I feel like this show now going back and watching Voyager,
[00:04:23] I'm getting more of an appreciation for Chacote.
[00:04:26] I'm kind of noticing a little the nuanced stuff that Beltran was trying to put into the character,
[00:04:38] but never really went anywhere.
[00:04:42] I don't think he really got the opportunity because there really wasn't a lot for the character itself
[00:04:48] to really shine in a lot of ways.
[00:04:52] I've already just done two episodes of Subrose, one on here and one on Greenshirt that I just taped.
[00:04:58] The thing is that as much as there was issues with that episode, Gates was able to really just bring it.
[00:05:05] I don't think Robert had that opportunity to bring it for Chacote because it just wasn't written that way.
[00:05:11] Here it was written.
[00:05:12] He was a broken character.
[00:05:15] Before I continue that, I really like seeing these characters that we do adore in a bad spot.
[00:05:25] They're broken, they're out of their luck, no hope.
[00:05:30] They're just like whatever and it's nice to see them kind of just fall from grace.
[00:05:38] It's like we had to bring down the room.
[00:05:43] I just like let them fall from grace because in the sense that you get to see them shine in a different way.
[00:05:50] I knew what you meant.
[00:05:52] No, I know.
[00:05:54] It's been one of those days, man, if I'm going down, I'm taking you all with me.
[00:05:59] They did that with Beverly in season three.
[00:06:02] She went through hell was at this point of like I'm going to kill or to protect myself.
[00:06:09] I'm done.
[00:06:10] She was just a broken character.
[00:06:12] This is what we saw and of course, since he had been alone for so long, he didn't know how to work with the team.
[00:06:17] Here's these kids being like, we know what to do.
[00:06:22] This was the overall start of Chacote's arc of Rick and coming back.
[00:06:29] One thing that I think they really captured really well is again, I know it's animation.
[00:06:35] But the look on his face when the kids are saying, we can do this, we can do that.
[00:06:41] We can get you out of here.
[00:06:42] We can contact Jane Wayne.
[00:06:43] He's got this look on his face like he never thought he was getting off that planet.
[00:06:47] He thought it was it.
[00:06:48] He had accepted.
[00:06:50] Made peace.
[00:06:51] Yeah.
[00:06:52] I'm dying here.
[00:06:52] This is where I'm going to live out the rest of my days and you could see on his face
[00:06:55] like that realization kind of sink in that he's going to get to go home and see someone specific.
[00:07:05] See, see once exactly.
[00:07:08] I mean, he just had the hollow version of her this whole time.
[00:07:12] Now it gets the real version.
[00:07:14] Now, I think also with the loss of a Drake who was his first officer that was what did hollow Jane might say?
[00:07:23] She said he's a captain that lost his crew.
[00:07:27] Right?
[00:07:28] It's one of those as a doctor, you have the do no harm oath.
[00:07:33] Right?
[00:07:34] As a captain, it's I go down with the ship.
[00:07:37] Yeah.
[00:07:37] Like my crew goes off safely.
[00:07:39] I am the last one to stay here and the fact that he didn't even get that option to be the last one to stay with the ship to save his crew.
[00:07:49] It was like his crew was just plucked away and taken from him one by one.
[00:07:53] And he didn't even have to even protect them.
[00:07:57] And with the Drake as much as he had, you know, I don't know if it was just the type of because he's a bird that just kind of rough personality, but he had faith to try and help Chico T and give him faith.
[00:08:16] And he ended up dying for it.
[00:08:18] Like he sacrificed himself for Chico T.
[00:08:20] So, you know, that was very interesting and very sad.
[00:08:24] And like you said, I think Robert really was able to sink his teeth into these scenes because when they found a Drake, when they were looking for doubt was Chico T's way of like, it's not about me anymore.
[00:08:36] You know, I get to be that captain to save my crew.
[00:08:39] Yeah.
[00:08:41] So all of that combined was just one really big moments and just I think this episode is only like 23 minutes or something.
[00:08:49] So there was a lot to unpack.
[00:08:52] Yeah, for sure.
[00:08:54] So was there anything here?
[00:08:58] Like I remember Dell just being rude.
[00:09:01] Maybe he was frustrated.
[00:09:06] You know, when of course had that positive attitude.
[00:09:11] Jane Way as being a hologram, I guess she was just all like, I trust these kids.
[00:09:15] Was there anything here that really stuck out to you while Chico T was going through all this?
[00:09:23] No, you know what?
[00:09:24] To be honest, when I watched it, I was just I was so focused on Chico T and kind of how he was responding to all of it that
[00:09:32] to me, that's what stands out the most.
[00:09:33] But I do think we start to see Dell in this episode because it's the next episode he really starts to come to terms with the fact that maybe he's not captain material, right?
[00:09:45] Correct.
[00:09:47] At least not yet.
[00:09:48] Oh, yeah.
[00:09:49] Yeah.
[00:09:50] And I think you're starting to see him start to realize that a little bit this episode, right?
[00:09:57] Yeah.
[00:09:58] And you know what?
[00:09:59] I think for him, Dow was just because he saw his future, right?
[00:10:07] He looked in that stream when he was with Wesley and saw that's what's tricking himself a little bit.
[00:10:12] I don't think he would have been doubting his abilities if he didn't see that, which that is why Wesley was like, no one likes spoilers.
[00:10:19] Like, don't see it messes with you.
[00:10:21] You might make the wrong decision that you weren't supposed to do because you had a glimpse of the future.
[00:10:25] So it's one of those things that it's just kind of, this is also Dow's arc, which I believe in this next one is when we see Dow and Chacote have a conversation and that would be in the next episode.
[00:10:43] Now, I do have Instagram open right now live and we have John here who says Chacote took a sad backseat when seven took over as Janeway's favorite in the writer's room.
[00:10:57] I agree.
[00:10:58] Not going to lie.
[00:10:59] I think when they introduced seven, seven was kind of all over the place, right?
[00:11:05] Janeway, the doctor, you know, even Paris.
[00:11:08] Like, she was kind of being even a Balaana, you know, that yeah, I think Chacote did get a backseat a little bit because they were kind of focusing on seven.
[00:11:19] And then it was like, let's give Chacote a story.
[00:11:21] Let's pair him with seven.
[00:11:22] Like that was like, and it made no sense.
[00:11:26] So I think that is an absolute truth to that.
[00:11:32] And then we also have Ryan joining us.
[00:11:36] Now I will say real fast, Ryan, he is a writer.
[00:11:40] He wrote a stunt script and it is on Stutt scripts right now and is called Star Trek oath and it is about Beverly Crusher and I will load the link later down below and you guys will be able to click on it and go read it.
[00:11:54] It is awesome.
[00:11:56] I was very excited when I read it.
[00:11:59] I was like, this has to be a TV show.
[00:12:03] So hello, Ryan.
[00:12:04] Thank you for joining us.
[00:12:06] So let's get into unless do you have anything else to say about this first episode or should go on.
[00:12:11] No, no, I like the I just I thought it was a great episode.
[00:12:13] I love the cast away feel a little bit.
[00:12:18] Yeah, yeah, good.
[00:12:19] It was a good episode.
[00:12:19] There was no Wilson, but no, no.
[00:12:24] I feel like a drink was a little Wilson because he lost him.
[00:12:27] Oh, well that's.
[00:12:28] Yeah.
[00:12:29] Well, well, that's just sad.
[00:12:31] Now sorry, I just ruined your day.
[00:12:33] Now you did.
[00:12:34] Thank you.
[00:12:36] You said you were taking me down with you and here we are.
[00:12:39] There we are.
[00:12:40] I should have rethought that.
[00:12:42] Okay, so let's go on now to last flight of the prototype part two.
[00:12:59] It's the Shenzhen incident.
[00:13:01] How is Jean-Luc?
[00:13:03] Oh, it's been a while.
[00:13:05] Last I heard he was busy with the Romulan evacuation.
[00:13:10] I've been told that's his priority.
[00:13:13] But I hear you've seen my son.
[00:13:15] Yes.
[00:13:16] We recently had an encounter with Wesley as something happened.
[00:13:22] How is he?
[00:13:24] He saved our lives but seemed a raffic and he persuaded some of my cadets.
[00:13:29] To embark on a mission they yet to return from.
[00:13:32] I wish I could offer some insight but I haven't seen him in years for a time traveler.
[00:13:38] I wish he had more time to spend with his mother.
[00:13:42] Beverly, that was a good line.
[00:13:45] Yeah, it was.
[00:13:47] Whoever wrote that as a genius because it's true.
[00:13:50] She's not wrong.
[00:13:51] I okay.
[00:13:52] So as I was binging this, I didn't mean to but was binging this and.
[00:13:59] I saw Wesley of course in the last five that we were just talking about.
[00:14:03] I was like, are they going to bring back Beverly?
[00:14:05] It's probably going to show up.
[00:14:06] I don't know what's going to happen.
[00:14:07] So when we have this little scene, the first thing that they're managing Jean-Luc, right?
[00:14:14] And talk about tug on.
[00:14:16] It's fricking animation but you hear in Gates' voice like she made it depressing in a way because she hears his name and she's just like, oh, and she's like, I hear that's his priority.
[00:14:28] And she's sad.
[00:14:29] And I'm just like, stab, stab, stab.
[00:14:36] I think they did that really, really well and then I just like how they're like, okay, we mentioned Jean-Luc now it's getting to the serious part because that was the whole reason why she left.
[00:14:45] His priorities was not her and that's why she had to protect Jack but she hadn't seen Wesley and we know this and the movie doesn't exist.
[00:14:54] Nemesis doesn't exist.
[00:14:56] So literally she hasn't seen him since Journey's End and so to see her on screen wondering what's going on with Wesley.
[00:15:06] And this is like the only interaction we have of Janeway and Beverly so that was exciting.
[00:15:11] I don't know, I was thrilled.
[00:15:14] What was your reaction when you saw Beverly pop up on screen?
[00:15:20] Her hair was incredible.
[00:15:23] I love the do in this.
[00:15:25] I like that usually animation they'll animate the characters so that they're very similar, right?
[00:15:32] So that people can see them right away.
[00:15:35] So you kind of expected the mom hair.
[00:15:39] Yeah.
[00:15:40] And the way that they animated her hair in this I thought was really good.
[00:15:45] It was nice to see that they show that evolution of Beverly over time and stuff, right?
[00:15:52] Yeah.
[00:15:53] But John in the chat I see there at Instagram says, oh, you call your mother Wesley.
[00:16:00] Yes.
[00:16:01] Thank you, John.
[00:16:03] It's very true.
[00:16:05] And then even said the Shinzon incident.
[00:16:07] Raya says love how the animation also matches the voice acting so good which is true.
[00:16:12] It's like if I was actually watching Gates perform this and it just tugged at your heart strings.
[00:16:18] Yeah, and I noticed that too with Wesley, like the way Wesley's animated the timing and stuff with the voice acting is really good.
[00:16:29] Was perfect.
[00:16:30] Yeah.
[00:16:30] Now I know of a few Bev heads who was not happy with the hairdo.
[00:16:36] And I think it was because, because you know when we saw Beverly with the white hair and the dark hair and stuff like that that's supposed to be like 20 years later.
[00:16:46] This is really only supposed to be like four or five.
[00:16:49] But I think at this point Beverly is like 61 years old because she was born in 2324.
[00:16:55] So she would have been like 78 at the end of the card.
[00:17:01] But so everyone's kind of like why isn't it read with a straight like, like it's starting to go gray. Right.
[00:17:07] Just kind of like how they did with Jane Wayne.
[00:17:09] And I get it.
[00:17:10] I think that makes sense because it was only a few years since Nemesis.
[00:17:15] However, I was wondering and this is kind of my theory that maybe she changed her look so she wouldn't be as recognizable because she was trying to hide from Jean-Luc.
[00:17:27] Right.
[00:17:28] She didn't want to be found.
[00:17:29] So she still has her bright red hair that he's used to.
[00:17:34] She would be found pretty easily, I think.
[00:17:37] And so maybe either she let her hair go gray or she dyed it and just so she and she changed like she had the bangs and stuff like that just so she wasn't as noticeable as before.
[00:17:49] I mean, yes, some Starfleet people were going to see her and things like that.
[00:17:52] And that's not a big deal.
[00:17:54] But Picard wouldn't know what she looked like.
[00:17:56] Right.
[00:17:58] So I think that might be the reason.
[00:18:01] It's the only thing I could think of.
[00:18:03] That and also not everybody ages the same way.
[00:18:08] Very true.
[00:18:09] And also if you have a little boy, you know, running around, that's going to make your hair go gray pretty quick.
[00:18:15] I'm just going to say.
[00:18:17] But no, I was very excited when I saw her on there.
[00:18:21] And of course, this was kind of the only scene that we see with Voyager.
[00:18:25] They're trying to recover from the whole loom attack and stuff.
[00:18:29] And then they go back with Dow and Chacote.
[00:18:31] Dow doesn't like taking orders.
[00:18:33] That's what I noticed.
[00:18:36] He was not pleased because Chacote is the captain.
[00:18:40] And Dow was so used to giving orders.
[00:18:43] He wasn't pleased with any of that.
[00:18:46] But of course, because he was not liking that he had to take orders,
[00:18:51] he was also not paying attention.
[00:18:52] So when they decided to make the protostar into a sailing ship, he almost killed them all.
[00:19:00] He wasn't really a captain.
[00:19:03] So I just wonder if, like I said, if it's just because he saw the future that it was messing with his head a little bit?
[00:19:11] Yeah, I think so.
[00:19:12] I think he's always kind of had a problem with authority though, too.
[00:19:17] The attitude is always kind of there.
[00:19:22] And I think that definitely just kind of pushed him over the edge a little bit.
[00:19:29] A little bit, yeah.
[00:19:30] Because then he also saw Gwynne because Chacote is like, Gwynne takeover and she took charge.
[00:19:36] And that was exactly what he saw.
[00:19:38] And he's like, oh, my life is being ruined as we speak.
[00:19:44] Well, I think like I said, it's he's coming to terms with the fact that he's maybe not the person that he thought he was quite yet.
[00:19:57] So I think sometimes self-discovery can be a bit of a gut punch to a person, right?
[00:20:03] Yeah.
[00:20:03] So I think you're seeing him kind of go through those stages of accepting that, which he clearly does.
[00:20:09] I mean, obviously through the the rest of the season, but I think I think he's starting to see that disappointment that he's he's not quite who he thought he was.
[00:20:19] And, you know, I think the show does a really good job too of also showing that there's nothing wrong with that.
[00:20:25] Right, right.
[00:20:27] Right.
[00:20:28] So right here, Ryan thinks that my hair theory is good.
[00:20:33] So thank you.
[00:20:34] And John says gray hair hashtag blame Jack, which I mean, we're all blaming Jack in the chat.
[00:20:42] We're all blaming Jack right now.
[00:20:44] I love Ryan's Ryan's play blaming the troublesome Picard kids.
[00:20:51] It's all.
[00:20:52] So that's what it's not Jack.
[00:20:53] It's all Picard's fault.
[00:20:54] Right.
[00:20:56] That is where we're going to put the blame.
[00:20:59] Now, I do want to mention too that I did love the little scene between Dow and Chacote when he was talking about his time on Voyager.
[00:21:08] Right.
[00:21:09] Because he's all like, I wasn't the captain.
[00:21:11] I was the number one.
[00:21:13] I was the first officer.
[00:21:16] And he says, I try to find a family.
[00:21:18] I tried to find a discovery with the Maki and all this stuff.
[00:21:22] And it wasn't until I stopped being the leader and went under someone is where I actually really found myself to be a leader that I needed to be.
[00:21:29] Right.
[00:21:30] I really enjoyed that conversation.
[00:21:32] And one of the great things about Dan, Kevin and Aaron when they were writing all this is that they intertwined these stories of Voyager and TNG and got, you know, DS9 all of it.
[00:21:51] They were able to they didn't shoe horn it in.
[00:21:54] It was perfectly weaved in where it made sense.
[00:21:57] But it was also a nice little call back to what we enjoyed.
[00:22:02] And that is what I really enjoyed about this season and they did a lot in the season.
[00:22:09] I think both, both Prodigy and Lourdesx do a really great job of, you know, paying tribute to the past trek like that fan service without it being too on the nose, I guess.
[00:22:22] Yeah, yeah. Exactly.
[00:22:24] Now, I know when they were, you know, fighting the storm and things like that, and Jakoté falls over.
[00:22:30] Dow does prove himself by jumping in and saving Jakoté.
[00:22:38] And I also find it fun.
[00:22:40] It was like those eels that were like storm eels.
[00:22:45] I don't know.
[00:22:46] Ion eels.
[00:22:47] I don't know what to call them.
[00:22:48] But he's like using them to like, let's go.
[00:22:51] I love when Star Trek does like weird alien things that you don't.
[00:22:57] Right.
[00:22:58] I mean, this is the franchise with the big green hand in space and, you know, the, the big flower things that take down a board cube.
[00:23:07] Right.
[00:23:08] So I love when Star Trek is always best when it's weird.
[00:23:12] Even with the eels, though, the eels were kind of looking like, what are you doing?
[00:23:16] But, you know, they helped him trek along.
[00:23:18] And the thing is, is that funny that you mentioned Picard because I had a season one Picard vibe when I saw this because right at that end when, you know, Dow pulls out Jakoté Jakoté.
[00:23:30] And there's this crew all around him.
[00:23:33] It reminded me at the end of season one of Picard when Picard died with Rafi and, you know, and everybody, Soji was there.
[00:23:40] This was a different crew.
[00:23:42] This wasn't the crew that he called family, but this was a crew that cared for him and he cared for and he was there with them.
[00:23:48] It was the same thing with Jakoté.
[00:23:50] This wasn't his Voyager crew and this wasn't his protostar crew, I guess you could say, but it was a crew nonetheless.
[00:23:57] And they were there for each other and they were helping each other.
[00:24:00] And I think that's what Jakoté needed to be reminded of.
[00:24:04] So I liked that little, that little call back to that.
[00:24:07] And then, of course, they were able to fly out of there.
[00:24:12] But, you know, it was very interesting just to kind of see these little moments that we were seeing in the first 10 episodes and now they're kind of coming to light, right?
[00:24:23] Like the whole Gwen and Dow thing.
[00:24:27] And Jakoté would be a very good teacher for Dow to kind of have him understand just what all that means.
[00:24:36] So I definitely enjoyed it.
[00:24:38] Was there anything about this episode that you enjoyed?
[00:24:42] I mean all of it, but I think Ryan and the cat did have a good comment there about the parallels between Gwen and Dow and Jane and Jakoté.
[00:24:55] Yeah, I think that was really well done.
[00:24:58] No, that is very true.
[00:25:00] And Ryan also says we're in Starfleet weird is part of the job.
[00:25:05] That's so true.
[00:25:06] That's a Janeway quote, right?
[00:25:08] I think so.
[00:25:10] That's a Janeway quote. I think so.
[00:25:12] Oh my goodness.
[00:25:14] I hear it in Tim O'Rourke's voice.
[00:25:19] Oh my gosh.
[00:25:21] But that's Smirk she gets. She gets that little smirk with the...
[00:25:24] It is Janeway. There it's confirmed.
[00:25:26] It's confirmed. The thing is, every single captain was different, but they all had their unique styles and it was always like the perfect amount for whatever they were going through, like with Picard's TNG and Sissela and DS9.
[00:25:39] Like it was just... they were always able to do it just right.
[00:25:44] And the right amount of series and the right amount of bunny.
[00:25:48] And that's what always interested me about Star Trek is that it could be both.
[00:25:52] Not like the TOS version where they're like, we all almost died.
[00:25:56] Half our crew's gone, but hey, let's crack a joke at the end, but that was just 6th television, right?
[00:26:02] That was just how they did it.
[00:26:03] So it didn't really surprise me that they would go down that route.
[00:26:07] But this next episode that we're going to talk about is not really a favorite of mine, but I guess we'll talk about it anyways.
[00:26:16] Your scientist! Like me! These experiments are why those triples have gotten so huge!
[00:26:22] What's your worst, child? Or they may be your last!
[00:26:25] Whoa! Back up! A Klingon scientist. Don't run into many of those.
[00:26:31] I am Dr. Karuvong, health geneticist for the Empire, sent by Chancellor Martok to find a way to defeat her ancient blood enemy, the Triples.
[00:26:45] I found a weakness in their DNA to slow their reproduction, but something went wrong.
[00:26:51] Now they are stronger and I have lost my honor!
[00:26:57] So when I think, I don't know if this was intentional or maybe I'm reading it into it, I don't know.
[00:27:03] But first, a Klingon threatens to kill a child. That's interesting.
[00:27:08] Two, Chacotes are like, whoa, whoa, Klingon scientist!
[00:27:13] That's like, what do you say, unheard of or haven't heard very many of those?
[00:27:17] And it reminded me of Guyanin when she was like, fringy scientist! Hmm, in suspicions.
[00:27:23] Again, I don't know if that was a callback, but I'm going to take it.
[00:27:26] I do feel like the Klingon scientist comments been made under their series before.
[00:27:31] Because I remember when I watched this and he said he was a scientist and that popped into my head was that we don't see too many of them.
[00:27:41] And then Chacote says that. So I feel like he was kind of all of us in that moment.
[00:27:47] I just also really, really love the Klingons wearing a monocle.
[00:27:52] Like he's like Klingon monopoly guy.
[00:27:55] Exactly!
[00:27:57] Hey, he's got to be serious, right?
[00:27:59] I do love that Martok was mentioned.
[00:28:02] I'm not a Klingon fan.
[00:28:04] I do adore, I do love some triples, but I'm not a huge Klingon fan, which is probably why I wasn't really into this episode.
[00:28:13] But Martok, I thoroughly enjoyed.
[00:28:16] I liked Martok.
[00:28:17] I thought he was an awesome character.
[00:28:19] So I like that he was mentioned.
[00:28:21] And then of course we're seeing Rock in a different light because she made a slight miscalculation and created a new species.
[00:28:33] It's not a big deal, but it was a cute little little species.
[00:28:36] Was it needed?
[00:28:38] Probably not.
[00:28:39] This is more for the kids.
[00:28:42] I think so, but I think it was also about showing like, because again with kids in mind, it's about showing that like just because you're good at something doesn't mean you can't make a mistake.
[00:28:52] Yes, or fix the mistake.
[00:28:54] It's okay and just move on and learn from it, right?
[00:28:57] Well, because what ended up happening is she was so upset that she made this mistake and at first she didn't even want to look at Ripple.
[00:29:04] She was like, uh-uh!
[00:29:05] And then she was like, oh, it's adorable.
[00:29:06] I'm going to love it.
[00:29:07] Well, Ripple ended up saving their lives because it spoke triple Lenees.
[00:29:13] You know, it's like-
[00:29:15] Triple Lenees is that the official-
[00:29:20] It's now canon.
[00:29:22] I'm not saying this right now.
[00:29:24] Triple Lenees.
[00:29:26] But the thing is, it's just that if she didn't make that mistake, they wouldn't have been able to survive about to be destroyed, right?
[00:29:36] I do want to say though, zero already losing that body.
[00:29:43] Yeah.
[00:29:45] They got one over quick.
[00:29:47] There was- I mean, we all knew it was going to happen this season, but there was just a small party that thought it would be a little longer.
[00:29:56] Right?
[00:29:57] Like, I kind of hoped that they would have been-
[00:30:03] Or I was even expecting that they would have found a way to preserve the body.
[00:30:09] Right.
[00:30:09] But that didn't happen.
[00:30:10] Right, like they get to the doctor and they will be able to fix it.
[00:30:15] But I guess it was more of a way to say that everything's going to go your way.
[00:30:22] Like again, this was the kids in mind.
[00:30:25] Yeah.
[00:30:25] Kids are going to be growing up and learning these life lessons.
[00:30:28] There was- and I'll say this real quick.
[00:30:31] One of my biggest issues and sometimes in television and when something really, really bad happens and then all of a sudden a miracle, right?
[00:30:39] It's not realistic.
[00:30:41] And one thing that I did enjoy because as everyone knows, I love bones, the TV show, not the character.
[00:30:49] One of the main characters- and this is really a spoiler, but one of the main characters after like 11 years on the show, there was 12 seasons.
[00:30:57] He basically broke his back and at first it was like, oh no, he's fine.
[00:31:03] It will be fine.
[00:31:05] Well, no, he never walked again.
[00:31:07] Like it was a serious injury to the point of he's lost full function of his spinal cord and he'll never walk.
[00:31:15] And I kind of glad that they did that because it wasn't just a magic of television and everything was hunky-dory.
[00:31:22] And you had to see that character grow through those changes of I went from the scientist who's walking around to now all of a sudden having to make these changes being in a wheelchair, the whole process.
[00:31:33] And I thought it was really, really done well.
[00:31:36] So we're seeing that with zero right now where they're like, I knew it was going to happen.
[00:31:42] I was just hoping it wasn't going to happen so soon.
[00:31:44] And now I have to go through the process of losing this body and all those feelings and stuff like that as I just had them.
[00:31:52] Yeah, yeah.
[00:31:54] Like you said, it's a good life lesson.
[00:31:56] You know, it's unfortunate that life tends to shower you with great things and then very quickly take it away.
[00:32:06] Right.
[00:32:07] Right.
[00:32:09] And, you know, I think it's good especially for kids to kind of show that to at least prepare you a little bit, I guess.
[00:32:19] But I mean, who are we kidding?
[00:32:20] There's adults that haven't learned these lessons yet either.
[00:32:24] Exactly.
[00:32:26] We're still trying to learn those lessons.
[00:32:30] I do.
[00:32:31] And then again, Klingon trying to kill a child.
[00:32:36] So as we're going through all this.
[00:32:38] That's also a good lesson for kids to learn because at any moment a Klingon could try to kill you, right?
[00:32:44] Klingon could pop out of anywhere, right?
[00:32:45] You never know.
[00:32:47] But here comes Rock who she's like, nope.
[00:32:49] And they're all body slamming him like, Merck's coming over this direction.
[00:32:55] And it was like, at your coach it was no more like, what the heck?
[00:32:59] But it was just so funny because it was like these children just ganged up on him and knocked him down because he was being an idiot.
[00:33:09] But, and then of course because her mistake saved them, Brebel, then he does that the Klingon chant.
[00:33:18] And I was like, does he really deserve to do the Klingon chant?
[00:33:20] I'm kidding.
[00:33:20] I actually enjoyed the Klingon chant and I liked that Rock joined in and you know, because she was all like, all right, I'll fill you.
[00:33:29] I feel you.
[00:33:30] She would say I'm with you on this Klingon.
[00:33:33] And of course they, and then they made a star because that's easy.
[00:33:39] I mean, I was all like, just that, like, just like that, let's just make a star guys so we could get out of here.
[00:33:46] Right.
[00:33:48] Which is what they like.
[00:33:49] I mean, I had to go at the speed of plot.
[00:33:52] Right.
[00:33:52] So exactly.
[00:33:54] Very quick.
[00:33:55] I do real quick before we get in the next episode, they mentioned the retro virus, which of course has been mentioned all over Star Trek.
[00:34:02] But it was mentioned in Genesis.
[00:34:05] Because that Nersogawa, you know, baby saved the day.
[00:34:13] Data made the retro virus to make everyone back from, you know, an animal, whatever species they were back back to humans.
[00:34:21] So I love those little callbacks because it makes sense.
[00:34:24] Yeah.
[00:34:26] So Ryan does say that my triple knees is now canon.
[00:34:30] So thank you.
[00:34:31] But John says, tribal ish, which is not.
[00:34:35] That's actually not bad.
[00:34:37] And Ryan also says for kids show prodigy deals with some heavy emotions, which is great.
[00:34:43] So yeah, I definitely agree with that.
[00:34:47] But yeah, I mean, I think I probably prefer this episode better than that.
[00:34:52] What was that one?
[00:34:55] The fast on curious.
[00:34:57] Yeah.
[00:34:58] Yeah.
[00:34:59] Yeah, you didn't really like that one.
[00:35:01] I didn't care for it now.
[00:35:04] Yeah, I mean, I'll watch this one again.
[00:35:07] I don't think a lot of people really liked the case on.
[00:35:11] I know my opinion differed from somebody else's in the chat last week where I said it was actually nice to see case on a case on character in kind of a different light, kind of playing a different role than what we saw on Voyager all the time.
[00:35:25] But I think for this episode, though, I think the last thing I would have to say about it is it's clearly the slow it down for a second, light in the mood episode.
[00:35:36] Yeah.
[00:35:37] Probably thrown in there to help control pacing a little bit.
[00:35:41] Filler.
[00:35:42] It's a filler.
[00:35:43] I think this show sneakily is kind of it was moving pretty quick.
[00:35:50] There's a lot happening in the first half of the season, right?
[00:35:53] So yeah, it needed an episode to kind of tone it down.
[00:35:57] You know, and we love rock.
[00:36:00] I love seeing her get all excited over over science.
[00:36:04] Right.
[00:36:06] And she gets so excited and she just, you know,
[00:36:09] So excited.
[00:36:10] Yeah.
[00:36:10] Oh, I want rock to meet Beverly Crusher because well, she got excited meeting Wesley.
[00:36:15] She's like, oh my gosh, your Westley Crucker.
[00:36:18] Like, oh, I heart this character so much.
[00:36:22] Now of course, this next episode, this was a lot of fun.
[00:36:26] And to kind of harken back to what you were just saying five seconds ago,
[00:36:31] this triple episode was to slow it down because this next one made it go really, really fast.
[00:36:38] From the Protostar, we beamed aboard deck nine to a reality where Jane Wade went through the wormhole.
[00:36:44] Then we took the turbo lift up to sick bay on deck eight to a reality where we didn't stop the Protostar from destroying the Federation.
[00:36:52] Two realities both connected to what we did and didn't do.
[00:36:56] If we follow that pattern, every deck could be a new reality.
[00:37:00] Why is this only happening to us?
[00:37:03] We created the anomaly. It must be tied to our quantum signatures.
[00:37:06] Perhaps we can use the deflector dish.
[00:37:09] Create a broad spectrum warp field with an inverse tachyon pulse and
[00:37:12] Yes, that would seal the rift and untangle this mess we're in.
[00:37:16] I don't know what you're saying, but I like the way you're saying it.
[00:37:22] I really like Dow.
[00:37:25] I really like it.
[00:37:27] Honest to God, I would say shit like that.
[00:37:30] So I think that's why I laugh the hardest when he says stuff.
[00:37:34] I don't know what you're saying, but I like the way you're saying it.
[00:37:36] I like it. Yeah.
[00:37:38] You know, I do what you're talking about. Well, let's go for it.
[00:37:42] I just, you know, this there was so much happening in this episode because
[00:37:48] first it's like we're going back home.
[00:37:50] He cleans himself up. He's like, let's go see Jane.
[00:37:53] Well, I'm ashamed by being, you know, I shaved my face.
[00:37:55] And then all of a sudden it was like, there's
[00:37:59] Oh, what's his name?
[00:38:01] His name escapes me. The admiral we Jellico.
[00:38:04] Here's Jellico coming in and then all of a sudden they go on the
[00:38:08] tour belief and they're completely somewhere else where everyone dies and
[00:38:13] they see O'Connor. And then of course I think it was zero and rock who find Captain
[00:38:17] Tuvix and it was like all of a sudden it was just like, what is going on?
[00:38:23] So real fast because the captain Tuvix was two seconds.
[00:38:28] Do you think how do you think Tuvix survived?
[00:38:33] Do you think he just ran away because Jane we was to our Janeway did save him.
[00:38:38] I mean, how do you think that happened? How do you think that timeline went through?
[00:38:43] I think what happened was the scene where he's pleading for his life on the bridge.
[00:38:49] I think they all stopped being a bunch of douchebags and actually listen to him.
[00:38:55] I can see it. I can see it. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:38:59] They're like, this is where Chocote be like, no, no, we cannot do this.
[00:39:02] Then that's where last time it was like, I don't know you even though we were like
[00:39:06] a couple hours ago. Yeah, I was going to say we were just last scene.
[00:39:10] We were just playing pool with this guy. I'm not going to kill him now.
[00:39:12] Yeah. He's a good player. I mean, not losing my friend. Yeah.
[00:39:16] No, this guy owes me money. He can't be killed.
[00:39:25] Oh my gosh. I mean, that's just it. This whole thing was just like everywhere.
[00:39:29] And then we have O'Connor who he's just in the video.
[00:39:32] He's just collecting stuff like you hear the dingy of him dropping it while
[00:39:36] trying to get out of here. And he's just like, huh? What what's going on?
[00:39:42] I do enjoy the fact that they brought O'Connor back because it was,
[00:39:46] you know, he was just this one hit wonder and TNG, but he was like unlikely character
[00:39:52] to make a return. Like Ryan in the chat is kind of comparing him to
[00:39:57] to Mud to Harry Mud a little bit easier. Oh, that's true.
[00:40:03] Harry Mud for sure, which I will say whether you like or dislike discovery,
[00:40:07] I think that Rainn Wilson played a fantastic Harry Mud.
[00:40:11] I loved that kind of interpretation of the character. Yeah.
[00:40:16] I have not seen that yet, but I will get there. I promise.
[00:40:19] It's season one episode with with Harry Mud was the one where they
[00:40:25] keeps kind of putting them in a time loop. It was a very Star Trek episode.
[00:40:29] I really enjoyed it. Oh, perfect. Yeah.
[00:40:32] Ryan did say, Dal is all of us in that situation.
[00:40:37] Yeah, for sure. But one great thing about this episode was for the
[00:40:44] J. C. fans.
[00:40:49] We see some some evil Chacote and some evil Janeway going on.
[00:40:53] She's wearing some seven Borg.
[00:40:57] I piece there and I like that they don't even address or explain that at all.
[00:41:03] Yeah, she just has it and it's there. Let's go.
[00:41:07] It's just there. Let's go for it.
[00:41:10] I really liked this and I'm glad that they did the mirrored universe part
[00:41:18] because we really didn't get a lot of it.
[00:41:20] We got a lot of it in DS 9 obviously never sought with TNG.
[00:41:27] But you have not seen discovery.
[00:41:31] I have not seen this.
[00:41:32] I'll be honest, I think the mirror universe has started to become like the Borg
[00:41:37] overdone on. Oh, yeah.
[00:41:40] Yeah, like section 31 like it's enough. Let's it's we're done.
[00:41:47] But I think it was done well in this episode.
[00:41:49] I remember yeah thinking, oh God, here we go.
[00:41:52] But you get it's quick.
[00:41:55] It's not a long episode right?
[00:41:57] You're not getting it for an hour or two hours with the two part.
[00:42:00] So yeah, I think it's just enough of a kind of a flavor of the mirror
[00:42:05] universe and then you know, everything goes back to normal by the end.
[00:42:10] But we never really like we've never seen mirror mirror Janeway.
[00:42:16] Right. So that was right.
[00:42:17] That was a bit of a different.
[00:42:21] I think we see her and you know, if you play Star Trek online,
[00:42:24] I think I think there's mirror Janeway in that and pot in some comics
[00:42:28] and novels but never on never in Canon, right?
[00:42:31] Which is yeah neat to see.
[00:42:33] But I think in this case, like you said, it was quick.
[00:42:38] It was fun. There was a lot going on.
[00:42:41] I did like how when it was time for the agony booth.
[00:42:48] And he's like, I'm going to go for the cute one and at first Murph is like
[00:42:52] trilling and scared and all this stuff.
[00:42:54] And then it goes, like just completely karate chopping evil to Cote.
[00:43:00] And he's like, and then good to Cote's I'll like never trust the cute one.
[00:43:06] So I think and then then I'm escaping and then being found
[00:43:10] of course, the whale. Okay, this one was funny.
[00:43:13] Even the whales are evil because it was all here the Terran Empire.
[00:43:18] You know, I mean, they did miss a beat with everything that was going on.
[00:43:24] And and then even at the very end where all of a sudden as they got caught
[00:43:28] with evil Janeway and evil to Cote and they're trying to get out
[00:43:33] but they're trying to explain like, Hey, you see those monsters
[00:43:35] like eating through the time and space.
[00:43:39] Like that's going to kill us all.
[00:43:40] So if you want us to survive, you're going to have to stop this
[00:43:45] and get help us what she did.
[00:43:48] She didn't.
[00:43:48] She was like, we're not friends, but yeah, let's let's figure this out.
[00:43:55] So I'm like the allies.
[00:43:58] Yeah, right, right.
[00:43:59] I mean, like I said, this was action packs a lot of fun.
[00:44:04] It was great to see.
[00:44:06] I think it was definitely for the JC fans.
[00:44:10] You know what, it gave gave another another reason for Kate Mulgrew
[00:44:15] to show how she can play badass Janeway so well, right?
[00:44:20] Yeah, I would love a mirror Beverly.
[00:44:24] Now, Ryan did say here in the chat, he says, I want rain to return
[00:44:30] on strange new worlds and also said that and we get the
[00:44:36] Chacote line, I would never hurt you so worth the mere trip.
[00:44:42] It was just true because I mean, we don't know the history
[00:44:45] of Chacote and Janeway between, you know, the little flashback
[00:44:52] of him going off being the captain from when they left Voyager, right?
[00:44:56] They could still be friends.
[00:44:57] I don't know or more.
[00:45:03] But yeah, I enjoyed it.
[00:45:06] And of course they made it back and they were reunited.
[00:45:10] There was no Jellico.
[00:45:12] It was Janeway.
[00:45:13] And I like what I like about it too, it wasn't all like tears
[00:45:17] and hugging and all that stuff.
[00:45:18] She's like, what's on your face?
[00:45:20] She starts laughing because they had this fake beard of oil.
[00:45:26] So yeah, because well, I mean, if you're if you're evil
[00:45:30] in the mirror universe, you have to have a goatee.
[00:45:32] Yeah, to have a goatee.
[00:45:33] Exactly.
[00:45:34] It is Star Trek that invented that trope by the way.
[00:45:39] That you have to go to.
[00:45:41] Yeah, yeah.
[00:45:42] Yeah.
[00:45:42] Yeah.
[00:45:43] So that the famous trope everybody knows Star Trek.
[00:45:47] Thanks.
[00:45:48] Thanks Star Trek.
[00:45:49] I don't know.
[00:45:49] It's fun.
[00:45:50] It's funny to me.
[00:45:51] It is.
[00:45:52] All right.
[00:45:53] This last one of course was Ascension Part One.
[00:45:56] So we get Part Two in this next one and this is where all hell starts
[00:46:01] break loose.
[00:46:02] Put it through.
[00:46:05] Hello?
[00:46:07] Hello?
[00:46:08] Can any of you want to hear me?
[00:46:10] It's the Rahn.
[00:46:12] Rahn.
[00:46:13] Oh, oh, oh, blessed stars.
[00:46:16] You're all right.
[00:46:18] I'm not too late.
[00:46:20] This is Voyager.
[00:46:21] There's something wrong.
[00:46:22] Do you need assistance?
[00:46:23] It's Ascension.
[00:46:24] She's assumed power.
[00:46:26] Too much power.
[00:46:27] And now a war is coming for you.
[00:46:30] What's happened?
[00:46:32] The council is no more.
[00:46:35] Since he's harnessed new technology, I've never seen
[00:46:37] building military forces at an unbathemable rate.
[00:46:42] No.
[00:46:43] So I love her dad in this season.
[00:46:48] The relationship with them two, with them two, with those two
[00:46:52] is fantastic.
[00:46:54] He just loves her so much.
[00:46:57] And he's like, I just met you.
[00:46:59] Yeah.
[00:47:00] But it's like that daughter-father bond is instant
[00:47:04] with those two.
[00:47:05] It helps that he's not trying to murder her for sure.
[00:47:08] Correct.
[00:47:11] They do this really well.
[00:47:12] This was the father that she always wanted.
[00:47:16] Yeah.
[00:47:16] This is the father he could always have been if he
[00:47:19] hadn't gotten all crazy over the first contact that
[00:47:22] they had.
[00:47:24] So to see this different light of him, and of course he
[00:47:28] helps saves the day, right?
[00:47:30] He was very pivotal in order to saving their planet.
[00:47:34] Yeah.
[00:47:34] But because then it shift where Ascencia is lost
[00:47:40] or ever loving mind.
[00:47:42] But of course, you know, we're starting to see where
[00:47:46] like, Dow is now helping the Nova Squadron, right?
[00:47:50] Because now they're going to be attacked by whatever
[00:47:53] Ascencia has created.
[00:47:54] And then Zero's now losing her body.
[00:47:57] And so she's just, they're discussing with the doctor
[00:47:59] about how to, you know, what are we going to do about it?
[00:48:03] And of course they wanted Jacob's help, which I thought
[00:48:07] was kind of cute because they were all like, if I'm
[00:48:10] going to need some help, I want it from you.
[00:48:14] And he's like, oh, oh, okay.
[00:48:17] You know, he didn't know how to take it.
[00:48:19] Now Jellico kind of seemed pleased or maybe annoyed.
[00:48:23] I don't know, but he seemed pleased like, oh, Jakob's life.
[00:48:26] Okay, let's go.
[00:48:28] Jellico is such a weird character because he at first was
[00:48:31] like, oh, we're just going to have to leave him back there
[00:48:32] and let him die.
[00:48:34] But now he's like, oh, all right.
[00:48:35] Well, I guess since now you're here, we'll, we'll
[00:48:38] we'll survive.
[00:48:39] And of course he mentions the Romulan evacuation
[00:48:41] and the Androids.
[00:48:44] This was my little clue when they mentioned the Androids.
[00:48:46] I was like, are they going to mention when the Androids
[00:48:48] destroyed Mars?
[00:48:51] Which we'll talk about next week.
[00:48:54] Oh, yes, I will.
[00:48:58] I think because I think I was DMing you in real time as
[00:49:02] I was watching that episode.
[00:49:04] I think that was it.
[00:49:05] Yes, you were.
[00:49:06] There was just a lot going on now.
[00:49:10] This creation that Asensia had because as you saw
[00:49:14] on the clip, El Theron was all like, she's creating these
[00:49:17] things and we don't, she's harvesting power and we have
[00:49:20] no idea how.
[00:49:21] And here all of a sudden neither did she and neither did
[00:49:25] she, but here's this portal opening up and something's
[00:49:28] going through it.
[00:49:29] It reminded me of the Shrike with all those pointy
[00:49:32] ends.
[00:49:33] You know, this one, like a shard of glass, you know,
[00:49:38] or something, but it reminded me of the of the Shrike
[00:49:40] in a lot of ways.
[00:49:41] I was getting a lot of season three of Picard vibes.
[00:49:43] I don't know if that was done on purpose, but, um,
[00:49:47] but of course, you know, they were making both season
[00:49:54] three and this one roughly around the same time.
[00:49:57] Yeah.
[00:49:58] So season two was already started while they were
[00:50:02] starting season three.
[00:50:03] So they were kind of trying to make it intertwined,
[00:50:07] um, which maybe that's where the Shrike got its idea.
[00:50:12] Like who knows?
[00:50:14] Um, I did like, so when Dal and the Novus Grodjens,
[00:50:19] so with a Meijel and her partner, um,
[00:50:22] and they're going through and there's these that I just
[00:50:25] again, Star Wars X wings, TIE fighter vibe,
[00:50:28] like those drones going around like I was all like,
[00:50:32] I'm watching a new hope right now.
[00:50:35] I love Starfighters in Star Trek.
[00:50:39] I think that they're great because in, I mean,
[00:50:43] as, as, as much as I love a Starship, uh, you know,
[00:50:47] these, these little moments with these little Starfighters
[00:50:50] are pretty cool and yes, it's very Star Wars,
[00:50:52] but um, you know, most, most other sci-fi franchises
[00:50:58] have Starfighters anyways, you know, like Stargate,
[00:51:01] even Stargate, right?
[00:51:02] Stargate had them.
[00:51:03] Um, the F-301s, 302s or something.
[00:51:08] Your guess is good as mine.
[00:51:12] Uh, but uh, I do like seeing them and it's,
[00:51:15] it's something we see so rarely if almost never in,
[00:51:18] in Trek, right?
[00:51:19] So it's nice to see.
[00:51:20] Right.
[00:51:22] I, I enjoyed the action.
[00:51:24] I enjoyed how it was the Voyager and the Protostar
[00:51:27] and you know, Chakoté ended up like,
[00:51:29] I just got you back,
[00:51:30] but you're going to have to go do your job.
[00:51:32] Like they instantly had to go be Starfleet officers
[00:51:36] and destroy this thing that they don't even know
[00:51:38] what's going on, right?
[00:51:39] And they don't even know what they're up against.
[00:51:42] And even um, again, Star Wars vibes.
[00:51:46] So here's the Death Star, right?
[00:51:48] The whole, the strike stars we'll call it for right now.
[00:51:50] And the thing is that it's about to beam in
[00:51:53] and destroy the Voyager and all that stuff.
[00:51:56] And then all of a sudden the drones just do like
[00:51:59] a whole queue net, right?
[00:52:02] It blocked their, I don't know if it was their
[00:52:04] photon torpedoes or whatever, but it was like,
[00:52:07] block done.
[00:52:08] And I was like, that reminded me of you when they had
[00:52:11] that net from encounter at far point.
[00:52:14] Um, there was just so much going on,
[00:52:17] but that's why it was such a good first parter
[00:52:19] because in part two, you know,
[00:52:22] because at the end of this also, um,
[00:52:25] we figure out why,
[00:52:26] since it has so much power and it's because she has
[00:52:28] everything in her voice that we don't want to
[00:52:31] Right.
[00:52:32] For years right.
[00:52:34] For, for quite some time.
[00:52:36] Well, it was interesting because il theres a rumors
[00:52:39] all like whatever was going inside those domes was
[00:52:41] like months, right?
[00:52:43] It was happening really, really fast.
[00:52:45] He's like, but on the outside is only hours.
[00:52:47] Yeah.
[00:52:48] So all that stuff that she was harvesting.
[00:52:53] Yes.
[00:52:53] Yes, I think he was with her for months,
[00:52:55] but all that stuff that they were doing,
[00:52:58] creating all these machines,
[00:53:02] I don't know how you wanna call it,
[00:53:04] was all coming from Wesley
[00:53:06] and it was just coming at a fast pace,
[00:53:07] which is why I don't think she knew
[00:53:08] what she was getting herself into.
[00:53:10] Right, right.
[00:53:12] But you know what?
[00:53:13] And I think we're jumping ahead to part two.
[00:53:16] I don't wanna go too much,
[00:53:17] but I just remember when you find out
[00:53:19] that Wesley has been there for a while,
[00:53:21] I'm like, and you're still wearing the same clothes,
[00:53:23] like did she at least wash them for you?
[00:53:27] Did you get the shower?
[00:53:30] Sonic shower, I'm assuming.
[00:53:32] The same sweater. We have to hope.
[00:53:33] Yeah, same sweater.
[00:53:35] We have to hope that that's what happened.
[00:53:38] But no, I think that ending really was like,
[00:53:42] oh crap, because we weren't sure where Wesley went.
[00:53:44] I was afraid he actually did die
[00:53:46] in when the planet grew up.
[00:53:49] Yeah. Because in my mind,
[00:53:50] Beverly saying in season three,
[00:53:52] oh, I lost my son.
[00:53:56] And like with the way that all the time
[00:53:58] Iwai-mi stuff works,
[00:53:59] like you can't even be confident.
[00:54:01] Oh, well he'll be fine
[00:54:02] because we see him in season two of Picard.
[00:54:05] Yeah.
[00:54:07] But when did those events play out before?
[00:54:11] You know, his cameo and that
[00:54:12] did that part scene play out
[00:54:13] before the events of this or after?
[00:54:16] We don't know, right?
[00:54:17] Just like with the appearance of Q
[00:54:19] at the end of season three of Picard, right?
[00:54:24] We don't know exactly.
[00:54:26] That could have all, just because Q's dead here
[00:54:29] doesn't mean he's not jumping all around it, right?
[00:54:33] So...
[00:54:33] Well, he even said he's like,
[00:54:34] why do humans have to be so linear?
[00:54:36] You know, why does that have to be just one straight line?
[00:54:39] And so yeah.
[00:54:40] Which I thought was interesting
[00:54:41] because of the comment the board queen makes in first contact
[00:54:44] about humans thinking in such three dimensional terms
[00:54:47] and we just got Alice Krieger back for that season.
[00:54:52] So...
[00:54:52] Yeah, we did.
[00:54:54] There was just so much going on.
[00:54:56] And like I said, it was a big surprise that she had Wesley
[00:54:59] and I was like, oh great, what's gonna happen next?
[00:55:02] And then I had to keep binging at that point.
[00:55:04] But I was like, my day's over.
[00:55:07] So I thought I'd just continue
[00:55:08] and find out what happened.
[00:55:10] I'm starting to get that you really enjoyed this season.
[00:55:13] A little bit.
[00:55:15] I mean, I don't know how you guessed,
[00:55:17] but it was an all right season.
[00:55:20] It was okay.
[00:55:22] But you know, I didn't just automatically reach out
[00:55:26] to Aaron Mulkey on Twitter and be like,
[00:55:28] hey, can we have an interview please?
[00:55:30] And he was awesome because he was like, sure.
[00:55:33] But I mean, it was such a good season
[00:55:36] because it just worked with people who loved Voyager,
[00:55:41] people who'd love Picard,
[00:55:42] people who'd love Beverly and Wesley
[00:55:44] and it had it for everybody in this case.
[00:55:49] So I think it was done very, very well.
[00:55:52] I was very, very excited.
[00:55:54] The last five episodes that we will talk next week
[00:55:57] is definitely a roller coaster ride because a lot happens.
[00:56:02] But let's go ahead and talk about our Tri-Corder rating.
[00:56:07] My Tri-Corder.
[00:56:11] Is it Destiny's Child playing over that?
[00:56:14] Is it Destiny's Child or is it Stevie Nicks?
[00:56:18] Touche.
[00:56:20] Touche.
[00:56:21] Is it Stevie Nicks playing over that?
[00:56:24] Or is it Destiny's Child?
[00:56:27] So...
[00:56:29] Almost spit out my drink.
[00:56:31] Guys, we've had a log week.
[00:56:33] We're in the giddy mood.
[00:56:35] This is why.
[00:56:36] Okay, Tri-Corder rating.
[00:56:39] It makes it fun.
[00:56:39] But Tri-Corder rating,
[00:56:41] I completely forgot to post this sooner
[00:56:44] so I didn't get to the full 24 hours.
[00:56:46] So I only got 18 votes, which not too bad.
[00:56:49] But last flight of the Protostar 1 and 2
[00:56:51] in Cracked Mirror were the Whoppers with 44%
[00:56:55] and a triple cold quest in Ascension Part 1
[00:56:57] were at six.
[00:56:59] So I'm wondering which ones are the favorites?
[00:57:03] Mm-hmm.
[00:57:05] It's funny because I want to say that
[00:57:07] maybe Cracked Mirror actually does probably bump it a little bit.
[00:57:12] They're probably more of the winners
[00:57:13] because it's one episode versus the other one has two.
[00:57:16] And I'm sure that the last flight of the Protostar
[00:57:18] was just picked because Beverly, I'm sure,
[00:57:20] that was all the bad heads voting.
[00:57:23] But yeah, so that is the lovely little rating there.
[00:57:28] Of course.
[00:57:29] Well, I think it's one thing to add for these polls
[00:57:33] that you're doing about favorite episodes.
[00:57:34] At least this is how I feel about it.
[00:57:36] You know, I joke a lot about stuff that happens in the show
[00:57:40] or I'll poke fun at things,
[00:57:42] but I do that with everything, including myself.
[00:57:47] But for me, like I look at these polls,
[00:57:49] I don't think this season had a bad episode.
[00:57:53] Right? I think it was just where they fall
[00:57:55] on the spectrum of which episode was maybe better
[00:58:00] or had more of an impact on the audience.
[00:58:05] Or even specific, I mean, 6% of the people
[00:58:07] still voted for the Triples, right?
[00:58:10] That means there are people that thought
[00:58:13] that that was the best episode.
[00:58:14] So personally, I don't think...
[00:58:16] I'm glad to say.
[00:58:17] I'm sure we'll do a full season kind of,
[00:58:22] you know, how do we feel about it
[00:58:23] at the end of next week's episode?
[00:58:26] But I'll kind of prelude that with saying,
[00:58:31] I don't think this season had a bad episode.
[00:58:34] Just there were better episodes.
[00:58:37] Correct. And I even mentioned that last week
[00:58:39] when we were talking about the K-Zon episode,
[00:58:41] I was like, it wasn't bad.
[00:58:43] Like it just wasn't...
[00:58:45] It's still entertaining, right?
[00:58:47] I didn't watch a single episode and go,
[00:58:50] oh God, you know, neck, neck.
[00:58:53] Not once.
[00:58:54] Yeah, because that episode had a reason.
[00:58:57] It had to keep with zero story
[00:59:00] so then they can get their new body.
[00:59:02] So there was a reason for it.
[00:59:03] It was just a filler episode
[00:59:04] and that's what it was for.
[00:59:05] And so by that it just...
[00:59:08] I love Wesley Crusher.
[00:59:09] So that's where my mindset was.
[00:59:11] But I do, like we were saying,
[00:59:14] it's been so much fun just seeing all this happening.
[00:59:20] And like I said, this last five episodes
[00:59:23] were absolutely intense, crazy,
[00:59:26] and we get more Beverly Crusher.
[00:59:28] So that made me happy.
[00:59:34] So next week's episode, as I said,
[00:59:36] we are talking about Star Trek Project episode 16-20.
[00:59:42] I tried to get everyone in this shot.
[00:59:44] Unfortunately, El Theron and I believe Gwynn
[00:59:47] and Bribble are kind of cut out a little bit,
[00:59:49] but I can't wait to talk about this.
[00:59:50] This is loads of fun.
[00:59:52] Actually, Murph got cut out.
[00:59:53] I think he's behind the reactive review section.
[00:59:56] It's not my fault, it was the photo.
[00:59:58] Okay, I'm not being blamed for this.
[01:00:00] But yeah, so hopefully, you know,
[01:00:02] weather permitting, Jay will make it.
[01:00:05] And if you want...
[01:00:08] So now you have two running jokes, Jay.
[01:00:10] We're now gonna be talking about Picard's first aid skills
[01:00:13] and your weather permitting.
[01:00:15] Skills, as I air quote.
[01:00:18] Skills, air quotes, skills.
[01:00:19] Can I just say, I love the Avengers picture that this is.
[01:00:24] Like it...
[01:00:25] Right, that's why I picked it.
[01:00:27] It's pretty like...
[01:00:28] The look on all their faces is that determined,
[01:00:31] yeah, we're gonna kick some ass.
[01:00:34] It's Avengers assemble, right?
[01:00:38] So yeah, I can't wait to finish this off with Jay
[01:00:41] and talk about the rest of the season,
[01:00:43] because of course, as you could tell,
[01:00:44] we've absolutely loved it.
[01:00:47] And of course, you can find me on Apple, Spotify,
[01:00:50] Good Pods, anywhere you love to listen to your podcasts.
[01:00:54] You go to T-Pubbock and buy Crusher Combo merch.
[01:00:57] You can buy me a coffee by scanning that code
[01:00:59] on the top right corner
[01:01:00] and you can find all this information
[01:01:03] at crushercombo.com.
[01:01:06] So Jay, thank you again for joining me.
[01:01:10] This was loads of fun.
[01:01:12] I mean, loads of fun to the fact that I almost
[01:01:15] made you spit your drink at your screen.
[01:01:17] So I think I've won actually today.
[01:01:21] I've won the internet.
[01:01:24] So I'm quite proud of myself.
[01:01:26] I wanna thank Ryan and John for joining us
[01:01:30] on Instagram.
[01:01:31] It probably cut out because Instagram only does an hour
[01:01:34] and we're now over three minutes.
[01:01:35] So they don't get to see the very ending.
[01:01:38] But after that, I really don't have much going on.
[01:01:41] I know I will be sitting down with Patrick
[01:01:43] from It's Got Star Trek.
[01:01:45] So can't wait to show you that.
[01:01:47] And I'm gonna be guesting on Sci-Fi Remnant
[01:01:49] and so that's gonna be fun.
[01:01:51] But I might be taking a little bit of a break in September
[01:01:55] because doing reactive reviews takes a lot out of you.
[01:02:01] Might just have a couple of weeks off, but hit me up over.
[01:02:04] I mean, I get to just join you
[01:02:06] and my homework is I just have to try to watch the episodes.
[01:02:11] You've got more work.
[01:02:12] You get to show up, yeah.
[01:02:13] Yeah, you're producing the show, not just on it.
[01:02:17] Producing, editing, just no big deal.
[01:02:21] It's fine, it's fine.
[01:02:23] But anyways, this was lots of fun.
[01:02:26] See you guys next week.
[01:02:28] Thank you, Jay.
[01:02:29] Live long and prosper guys.
[01:02:32] Bye.
[01:02:33] Cross your out.
