[00:00:00] I think I'm saying that we struggle all our lives to answer it. But it's the struggle that is important. That's what helps us to define our place in the universe. This is, uh, Beverly. Dr. Beverly. Dr. Dr. Beverly Crusher.
[00:00:27] Look where we are. Here. All of us in this moment. So let's do what we spent our entire lives learning to be great. And this is Crusher Convo.
[00:00:44] Last week, we lost Sir Patrick Stewart at the age of 86. He passed away from a very short journey with Alzheimer's and Lewy body dementia. Hey guys, it's Jessie. Thank you for joining me on this special broadcast of Crusher Convo to talk about the brilliance of Sir Patrick Stewart and our favorite Picard moments.
[00:01:11] Sorry, I had to cancel this from a couple of days ago. I've had the flu. But yes, I wanted to do this. It's already been a week, but it has already been a rough week for everybody. So still, I think we're still all reeling from the loss of Patrick.
[00:01:31] So sorry again, I still have the flu. Not 100%, but I'm alive guys. So I really appreciate you guys understanding and willing to reschedule and be with me tonight. As always, great supporter. Got Chuck in the audience. I also have Nikki. And looks like John has joined as well. Thank you guys for joining.
[00:01:58] John says, looks like a fun crowd. Absolutely. Just talking about my sickness here in the chat before I went live. But Chuck did say, did you get treatment from Dr. Crusher? No. Otherwise, I would be better. He was a little busy this weekend. She had to go do a magic Star Trek thing. It's fine. It's fine. I did my rest and lots of fluids. Did all the things that Dr. Crusher would approve of.
[00:02:26] But before we really jump in and talk about Patrick Stewart, also, it was a really bad week for us. Walter. Okay. Walter passed away two days before Patrick did. And as much as we were, you know, like, oh my gosh, you know, he was 90 years old and he had canceled his Vegas trip. He had canceled other appearances as well. And I believe he had pneumonia in the beginning of the year.
[00:02:54] So there was some kind of, like, idea that Walter wasn't doing well. So was it a shock? Not necessarily. But, you know, it still sucks. Now we only have two of the original cast members left in between with Bill and George.
[00:03:13] And so, yeah. And of course, I, you know, shared the last moment that Walter was on Star Trek, which he did the voiceover as Anton Chekhov in season three of Picard, which was just a wonderful tribute to not only the original series, but also Anton Yelchin, who was from the J.J. Star Trek, who tragically died in 2016 from a horrible accident.
[00:03:41] And so, you know, we're learning about this. We're like, oh my gosh, here's all the support and everything. And then the news broke last Thursday, week Thursday, and that Patrick had passed. And I was at work and I just so happened to be going out of town that weekend to go to Hollywood. I was going to see my chemical romance at the Hollywood Bowl with my coworker.
[00:04:06] So it was kind of bad, but good timing because then I got to go to Hollywood to the, you know, the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And I went and I'm going to show the picture real, real fast. Found a star and it was very easy to find. It hit all the flowers on there. He's kind of in front of like a CVS pharmacy. But yes, my coworker took a picture of me.
[00:04:32] Yes, I am wearing a Star Wars jacket, but don't worry, I'm wearing a Star Trek Picard. That's my satchel, my purse. So it was all, it's all good crossing the streams there. But, you know, I really wanted to pay my respects. And there was lots of flowers and cards and all that stuff. And so definitely wanted to, to, to be there and, you know, just, just showed up, we, you know, we miss him.
[00:04:56] And, and even after losing with Walter and then with the Patrick, it was just kind of like a really rough week for so many people. John says a couple gut punches, Star Trek fandom in short order, tough. And then Chuck says I did some free for all segments with Walter on the seventh rule podcast. That's right. He did do seventh rule. So sad.
[00:05:18] But, you know, and also sad, it was just the, the support, like not even just the podcasters and the Trekkies and all that stuff and all that memories that Patrick holds dear to everybody, but the actors, you know, because as everyone knows, Patrick was my professor first. Huge Exton fan, did not grow up with Star Trek. And so I did not know him as John Luke Picard. And so, of course, I know him as Professor Charles Xavier.
[00:05:45] And even though he had known nothing about X-Men, I believe the story was, is that they knew he would be the perfect person to play Charles for obvious reasons. And they handed him a comic book with Charles, like on the front. And it was just like, this is who we want to play. And he just like saw the character and he was like, I was made for this. No idea about this character. So he had to learn about it, obviously, about what X-Men was and what his, what Charles was all about. But he really embodied the character of Charles Xavier.
[00:06:14] Like when I'm telling you that my childhood of seeing not only a comic book character, but a cartoon character, because it was the animated series come to life. Patrick did it brilliantly. And it was always something special between my brother and I and my mom, because we all watched X-Men together when I was younger. And so that was something that my brother loved. He loved X-Men. And we always would watch the movies together. We would talk about it.
[00:06:42] So when Patrick passed, I text my brother instantly, was letting him know. And he was so sad about it, especially because we know that his last performance is going to be doomsday as Charles Xavier. And of course, knowing our look, it's probably gonna be a death scene. Charles has already died like four times. So I guess, you know, have to end it that way. But it's just going to be really hard to watch knowing that this is the last time we're going to see him.
[00:07:11] John does says love hearing the various Walter interaction stories. Clearly a kind and generous, generous human to others. Walter was great. Never got to meet him myself, but always ran into him in the hallway. That dude was just walking around at Star Trek Las Vegas all the time. And I would just be like, hi, Walter. And he'd be like, hello. And that, you know, distinct voice of his. And it was just a pleasure to run into, to say hi to. And it was just amazing. But, you know, Joel, thank you for joining in the chat.
[00:07:41] So glad to see you saying hi to Chuck and everybody. Chuck also says going through all my medical issues now. And it really is a gut punch losing both of those icons. Yes, Chuck, I'm so sorry. Guys, I mentioned this in my last episode. Him and another very famous Trekkie, Spock Vegas, need our help. And so if you guys, you know, have just a little bit to donate to help them out through their medical issues, that would be great. I don't know if I added this to the notes below here, but it is on my last episode.
[00:08:10] But I will probably add it to my notes later on. So definitely, you know, check that out. Happy bookworm. Thank you. Say that. I hope you're feeling better. I'm on a lot of medication right now. Trying really hard not to cough, guys. So for any reason I go mute, it's because I'm hacking along and I'm doing my best. So yeah. Nikki says, I watch TNG and DVD and it hurts. It does. I mean, I've watched TNG all the time.
[00:08:37] It's on my TV practically 24-7 because it's on Pluto and it's just a little different now knowing that Patrick's gone. I don't know. It's just Dan from Trek Geek says this perfectly. I think this hurts a lot because this is the first captain. You know, we still have Bill and we still have all the other captains from all the other series, but this is the first captain that we've lost. And it's huge. It's Picard.
[00:09:02] It's something that is just genuinely a hard loss. And it's the first loss of the TNG crew. And, you know, when I saw the news at work, I instantly text my husband and I let him know. And he was just like really bummed out, obviously, because this is his crew. This is who he grew up with. This is who he knew Patrick of. This is his captain. And just we're all going through these feelings, right?
[00:09:32] And it's just been really, really hard. Happy Bookworm says, me too. I got rear-ended. Oh my gosh. Let's just add to your misery. Happy Bookworm. I'm so sorry. I hope you're okay. That really sucks. Ozark Bear. Hey, hi. How are you doing? I'm so glad you guys are here. After watching TNG and season three of Picard. Yeah, me too.
[00:09:59] Chuck did say, Walter stopped by vendor's table at STLV several times over the years. He loved it. He just walked around. Like, he was just really cool. John says, season three of Picard is just a joy. Fan service. Oh, hell yes. And you know what? It's fine. And I'm glad they did it. Okay? All those naysayers who were all like, it was just fan service. Well, you know what? We got him back on the Enterprise D. And that is what is so important. But you know what?
[00:10:25] I really wanted to highlight, though, a tribute that Gates did. And, you know, we weren't really sure what they knew. I had a feeling that they knew that Patrick was sick with the Alzheimer's. And as much as this was a shock to people, I will admit, when Patrick was going through, you know, the presses for season three of Picard, and there was this particular moment
[00:10:53] on the finale when he was on the red carpet. There is a video out there where you see him walking towards Gates or saying hello. He was very giddy, which, yeah, he's excited, right? You know, they're in the season three of Picard. It's all this stuff. But the way he was giddy, my grandmother passed away from Alzheimer's. My step-grandmother had lewy body dementia. My uncle had that frontal temporal dementia.
[00:11:19] I've seen different signs of that. And it just caught my attention. He just looked like a little boy. And she kind of like played along, you know? And I was like, I don't know why, guys. No, I'm not a doctor. Okay, so no one come after me. I'm just telling you how I felt when I saw it. It just hit me of something that I saw with my own family that I just wondered if he had it.
[00:11:48] And, you know, even people probably will say, well, how could he have had it while he was still acting and doing all that stuff? Guys, people who have been acting or who have done symphonies or who have done dances and everything remember that more than they remember their children's names. Okay, dementia attacks certain parts of the brain. And that's just how it is. They knew. They had to have known. I posted a video of where he was saying hello to everybody and he gave Gates a kiss and then he gave Jonathan a hug who kissed him on top of his head.
[00:12:18] And again, I think they just knew there was something different with Patrick. This was a private battle and they were there to be his support. And unfortunately, I was right. It's not a disease you want for anyone to have. But for Patrick, that's just not only one, but two. He got hit with two horrific versions of dementia. Okay, because Alzheimer's really is forgetting everything. Right.
[00:12:47] That's the one where, you know, they turn on the stove and they forgot and they walk away and start a fire. Right. That's just one of those things. With Lewy body, there's a lot of hallucinations. There's a lot of paranoia going on. And so I just couldn't imagine this happening to such this man with such gravitas. Who has just been such an inspiration to so many people for that to be his ending, especially knowing that that was kind of the ending that Picard had.
[00:13:14] Like, it's just it's way more meta than I think Patrick. I'm just saying right now. Happy Book Forum. And the elections were such good news. And then, bam, happy for the elections. Very sorry. It was through our exit. So let me see here. Just looking in the chat again. Check. I'm glad you're doing this tribute, Jesse. Make it so. Ozark Bearer says my dad had dementia and died in 2015. It's horrible. It's absolutely horrible.
[00:13:42] The one that my uncle passed away of. He died young. 68. It's the one that Bruce Willis has. It's just so hard to see someone you love go through that. And there's nothing you can do about it. The one big thing, though, about it was. So my grandmother passed away six weeks after my daughter was born. So that was very horrible timing. And she always would forget certain people. But she remembered me. And I was the baby.
[00:14:12] So I always took that to heart. But I remember always, every time I saw her, she would see me pregnant. And it would always be that same reaction of like, oh, my gosh, you're pregnant. You're having a baby. And I had to pretend, yep, grandma. Like, that's what's happening, you know? Same with my uncle. Every time he saw me, he recognized me. But he recognized me as a little girl. So when he would see me, he would be like, no, he couldn't speak. Like, okay, so he would just be like, surprise. Like, I remember you little. Like, he would do hand gestures.
[00:14:40] And you would have to be like, yep, no, I'm big now and everything. And it's just so hard. It's just so hard. And to think that this private battle was going on to not only Patrick's family and his wife, Sunny, but even the TNG cast. Like, they just all had to do this silently together and just be there for him as much as they could. Happy Book Room says, pretty sure the TNG friends knew. Yes, they absolutely did. Chuck says, my brother-in-law has early stages of Alzheimer's. I'm so sorry, Chuck.
[00:15:10] Happy Book Room just says, my brother with Down syndrome had dementia. Oh, that's horrible. He lost his short-term memory very quickly. Yeah, that is so, so hard. Chuck also said, I lost my parents three months apart in 1998. Yeah, that's just, that's so bad. I'm so sorry, Chuck. That's one hit after another. Happy Book Room did say, you learn never to argue with them. Just say, oh, that's later if they're, if they're trying to see someone who's passed or isn't around.
[00:15:35] My grandma with her Alzheimer's, I remember one time she was like, oh, I got to get ready because, you know, grandpa's going to come home soon. My grandpa had been dead for like 17 years. And then she was saying like Bill Clinton was president, but it was like 1964. 64. It's just all scattered. And she, that's just when you just had to run with it. Right. You just been like, yep, we're, we're going to get ready. We're going to see grandpa here in a minute. You know, we had to, cause they just don't know.
[00:16:04] They just don't know. So, but let me get to Gates's tribute. So again, we heard a little bit from the TNG crew. Obviously Marina did a wonderful video crying, obviously, you know, obviously, but Gates wrote this wonderful, basically a eulogy about Patrick. And it was posted on Variety. So I wanted to read a little bit that I have here.
[00:16:33] She says, for a final performance for dear Patrick, as opposed to the beautiful and peaceful death he apparently had, I suggest it might've occurred in a Christmas carol near the beginning of his meeting, the ghost of Christmas present. On the other hand, dying on stage as a wronged Shylock in the merchant of Venice would certainly have been unforgettable. His betrayal of Shylock was perhaps my favorite onstage performance of his I ever saw. Why do I even suggest such a thing? Because it would have allowed me to see him for a final time.
[00:17:02] How I wanted that. Many of us would have loved to have seen him once more, even though I knew he was very sick. Somewhere in my mind, I hoped I would see him again. So imagining two magnificent dramatic death scenes helps me visualize him doing what he so loved. One thing is for certain. Patrick's reach across the continents was massive. After word of his death surfaced, the internet, not surprisingly,
[00:17:28] was filled with thousands of tributes of an admiration and overflowing love for the Yorkshire man. He touched so many people in so many ways. Not only was he the captain of the Enterprise crew, he seems to have been everyone's captain because of how he walked the world. It was a beautiful tribute. I don't know how I got through that without crying. So they knew he was sick, but they couldn't see him because he was sick. Right?
[00:17:57] Whatever stage, because again, dementia, there's last years, it could be very quick. It's, you never know. They probably couldn't. And that's just so hard for them to know that he's going through that and there's nothing they could do. Right? So Nikki did say, I cried too as I saw Marina's video. Yeah. Marina's video, you know, she had just done, poor Marina. She had just done a video crying about Walter. Right? Her and Walter were actually very close.
[00:18:26] So she was willing for the loss of that. And then Patrick died. Like, bam, bam for everybody. So, so hard. Not only just for the Trek community, but for, for that, it was just heartbreaking. I did have a few photos that I wanted to share of moments that I absolutely loved.
[00:18:50] This one I had shared on the socials of Patrick and Gates at the premiere of the season three of Picard. So this was not the moment I was saying that I was like, oh my gosh, I feel like he has, he's on sets of dementia. This was not it, but. But it's such a beautiful moment between Gates and him, the smiles and everything like that. Just doing it one last time. I know that they were overjoyed to be able to do that. Thank you, Terry Metallus.
[00:19:18] This was also when they were at San Diego Comic-Con to promote. This was a 2022. This was her first time at San Diego Comic-Con. Obviously he has done it a few times because of X-Men. But, you know, that, that was a little fun photo shoot. This was an old school one that I like to share. It looks like they're at some kind of a convention or whatever. She's holding a microphone. But, you know, just the closeness that these guys had. He had a unique chemistry with every single person from the next generation.
[00:19:48] Obviously he had this firecracker chemistry with Gates, which is why we were always rooting for them. But he always had this, you know, father-son quality with when he came with Jonathan or this very close confidant with Marina. And, you know, just these moments with Data and War. Just, I don't know. It just was so great. And to know how much they cared for each other and loved each other.
[00:20:18] And had a group chat, for goodness sakes. And it showed. Here's, of course, the, for Nemesis. This was the red carpet for Nemesis. I believe he was doing a play, hence the beard. But, again, another fun moment that is captured. Just the joy that they, that they had. Right? And I was, it's just, it's just so sad. It's just so sad to see this loss. This is just profound loss for everybody.
[00:20:46] I love this picture of these three with Gates, Will, and Patrick at the ready room. This is when he was talking to them after the first episode of season three of Picard had aired. And he was discussing about, you know, where was Beverly and all this stuff. And it was just a nice little family reunion. And it was so nice to see. And I'm glad that we have that. And there's me again at his star.
[00:21:12] But, yeah, it, again, really hard for everyone involved who knew Patrick, who didn't even know Patrick, but knows how much his loss is felt. Happy Bookworm says, I was on a break and scrolling through Tumblr. And it said, RIP Patrick Stewart. And I was like, no. Yeah, I was on a break, too. And when I looked, I basically was, I just said, you know, Patrick Stewart passes. And I was like, oh, no.
[00:21:43] It was like, here it is. I mean, we knew this day was going to come. Even when I wrote my post for that day, I was like, I know. I knew I was going to write this one day. But it never prepares you for it. Right. Chuck says, Brett and Johnny's podcast is a great watch. I felt so sad for the TNG cast. Yes, absolutely. Nikki says, wonderful pictures. Yeah. That's why I wanted to share them because they were just absolutely awesome.
[00:22:07] One thing, too, though, in lieu of the flowers for Patrick, they wanted to basically donate to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation, which, of course, is a foundation close to me and is actually close to a lot of people. I think Kate Mulgrew, I think her mother passed away from Alzheimer's. And I think there's also a few other Star Trek alums that have been affected by Alzheimer's who hasn't.
[00:22:34] But, you know, Trek Geeks has thought, let's do a 1701 donation for Sir Patrick. Make it so. In lieu of flowers, give 1701 to Alzheimer's Research and caregiver support. Your gift goes straight to the charity Sir Patrick chose. I think that is a wonderful thing to do. I think it is very important to keep researching. And to be honest, I think, you know, for the next, because next year is the 40th anniversary. We didn't make it to 40 with the whole cast, which really sucks.
[00:23:04] They made it together in 40 because they started together in 86. But as the show, we didn't make it to 40. You know, for the Alzheimer's next year, I think definitely we should look into doing it, not only for my grandma or my step grandma or even my paternal grandma also died of dementia. But that was a medical induce. It was a whole story of my uncle. You know, everyone's been affected by it in some way.
[00:23:33] So I really wanted to just, as everyone's been talking in the chat, just talking about Patrick, how much we loved him. I know we may not have agreed to a lot of Patrick's decisions. I know like his idea of how he wanted season three to end. Not great. Didn't like it. Glad that didn't get filmed.
[00:23:53] But again, he really felt close to Picard in the end, especially because it was his way of telling his story about how he grew up because he grew up in a very, very violent home. And his mother was a victim of domestic violence. And of course, back then it was very much like, oh, it's the woman's fault. Right. So Patrick was very, very an advocate for for women.
[00:24:22] And and so Picard was his way of just that was kind of his therapy in a sense, like him going through all that stuff, what they showed in season two. His, you know, Picard's father we knew was not great. And so I think this was just his way also as kind of showing just what kind of man not only Picard was, but Patrick. I just realized I also have Instagram open. And yeah, there's a whole bunch of people over there. Oh, my gosh, Rashid, love it.
[00:24:52] Thank you for joining. I see three geeks, Jay, Evan, Dirk. My apologies. I was so into the chat here at YouTube. I see you guys. I see you. Thank you so much. I really appreciate you guys joining me over there on Instagram. Ozark Bear. How did he want season three to end? Are you ready for this? So he wanted to end Picard at the at his chateau with number one, the dog who I missed.
[00:25:21] And there was supposed to be a woman saying Jean-Luc dinner's ready. We were not supposed to know who this woman was in his mind. And it was supposed to be just an ending of choice. Is it Beverly? Is it Laris? Is it some other woman? It was up to the audience. The thing was, though, is that his wife, Sunny, was to do the voice of that. So, of course, it kind of makes it sound like it's going to be another woman.
[00:25:51] So no Laris or Beverly. It didn't make sense, in my opinion, if that's how they ended it. They said they had planned to film it. They just didn't have time or probably the money because, you know, shoot, they only had the Enterprise D for two days. So that was probably a big one. But that's how he wanted to end season three. But we ended up getting the whole crew together playing poker. And I think that is a lovely way of ending it. We still got the did they are they together year later situation.
[00:26:20] But I like to think that maybe they were hanging out, you know, rekindling something because I mean, they sent Jack off to to school. And then also they were sitting next to each other at the poker game. I don't know. I like to got a headcanon going on, guys. I'm going to leave it. I'm going to leave it at. Chuck says they're waiting. TNG Cass is now attending the STLV of 2027. Yeah, I saw that. I figured they would.
[00:26:49] But now with Patrick on, it's definitely going to be more of a memoriam for for Patrick, for sure. Chuck says, hi, Rashid. Thanks for joining across the pond. I really appreciate it. But, you know, I was showing a lot of videos of like favorite scenes of Picard of his favorite moments. Like I said, you know, with Jonathan kissing on the top of his head, you know, my YouTube
[00:27:18] blew up. Happy to say I have surpassed 1000 subscribers. Not the way I wanted it to happen because I was only at 600 a week ago. I'm at 1100 now, guys. And it's just because the videos I was posting and people have been searching Sir Patrick Stewart. It was popping up like some of the videos are over 200,000 views. And these are just the shorts, right? Like I wasn't showing like, you know, long, lengthy videos, but these were just the shorts
[00:27:48] and there are over 200,000 views. And to me, that just shows how much people really were looking for comfort. Well, you know, knowing that he was gone, they were looking at wanting just to see him one last time, wanting to hear his voice. I remember when Dolly Parton died. Gosh, guys, we lost so many amazing people this year. When Dolly Parton died, that's what I did. I was just scrolling through Instagram, looking at videos and I'm like bawling, right? Because Dolly meant so much to me. And that's what people were doing.
[00:28:16] And so I'm glad I was helping with, you know, people's comfort in order to get through this loss. People had their comments, obviously, of, you know, rest in peace and amazing actor. I love the scene. And some people were also saying some nice stuff that deleted because I don't want that on my feed. This is a positive space. And I'm also just, you know, trying to keep Patrick's memory alive. I don't really need to go into this negativity that just doesn't need to be there. Right.
[00:28:44] So, so yay meme. And I made it to over a thousand subscribers. Hope I don't disappoint people, but I do like to post as the people see and, you know, love to love to talk track. So yeah, it's, it's just been an interesting, interesting week of I'm still seeing tributes. I'm still seeing, I just saw a video today. I don't know where it was.
[00:29:09] I should have, I think it said Ed Eddington could be wrong, but it was, I'm doing the inner light music. It was an orchestra doing the whole piece because it's a full on piece. And it was beautiful. As much as I'm guys know, I'm not a fan of the inner light at all, not a fan at all, but the music was beautiful. And that was their tribute to Patrick. Patrick. So I just, it's still going.
[00:29:38] I think it's going to be going on for quite some time, but you know, we're, we're going through it together and that's kind of what this is. You know, Trek Geeks did it last week. I know Fathery did it. I believe it was yesterday that they were, you know, everyone's been doing tributes for, for Patrick and Walter. Chuck says, congrats, Jesse. Thanks again. Not the way I wanted to hit a thousand, but you know, now I get to do that giveaway. So I'll talk about that later. Happy Bookworm says, good question.
[00:30:07] How did some people want Picard to end? Rocks fall, everyone dies. You know, that was actually a theory that Picard might've died, but he died in season one. So it was kind of like, huh, I don't, you know. So I think the, what we got was great, especially because they wanted to open up for legacy. And, and I even had posted something about like how legacy should now open and it's to Picard's funeral. And someone had mentioned, she's like, that would be so cruel for Jonathan and Gates to film that.
[00:30:36] And I wasn't even thinking that, to be honest. I was just thinking of story, like comics, a book, you know, fan fiction. Like that's, so I took it down because I was like, oh, I didn't want anyone to get like misconception of what I was trying to say. I would not want to add anyone to go through any, something horrible like that, but maybe they would, you know, maybe this would be their way to honor Patrick. I have no idea who knows if we'll ever get legacy. It's right now next to nothing, like zero, we're never going to get legacy.
[00:31:06] But if we ever did, I know that they would honor Patrick in the best way possible, especially with Terry at the helm. Happy bookworm. We'll have to, we'll have the Beverly Crusher comic next year. I'm glad you mentioned that because I don't know. I'm curious. I know it's supposed to be about 20 years and I'm curious if they're going to mention anything about Patrick as like a little tribute or something like that.
[00:31:35] I don't know how much of the stories have been told. I don't know how much has been done. I know it's being released next year, but yeah, I'm very, very much interested to see how this is going to go because Gates is writing it. And so I know she really was an advocate for, for Crusher and I think that's going to be highlighted for sure. But yeah, Cirque Bear can't wait for that comic. Absolutely.
[00:32:05] Nikki says, I hope we get it in Germany. I hope so. That would really suck. I know with international stuff, it's just so hard these days. Chuck says, Dr. Crusher spinoff Jesse is the first officer. I don't know how well I would be as a first officer, but I will do my best. But anyways, guys, I do have one question before I hit a couple of my slides one more time. And then I have my tribute video that I'm going to end with.
[00:32:32] But tell me real fast your favorite moment of Captain Picard. I had shown a couple from obviously Picard season three, but I did show his moment in Sarek. It was that one shot where he's feeling all of Sarek's emotions and he's crying. And then there was that other moment with David Warner in Chain of Command. And I always thought that episode was brilliant because of how much they bounced off of each
[00:33:01] other and how the acting was just brilliant and the torture and all that stuff. I don't know. It was just amazingly done. But I'm curious what you guys think and, you know, what moment pops in your head for Picard. Rashid, hello. Next year to TNG's 40th, it will be a celebration of Sir Patrick Sir's life. Looking forward to FedCon. Yeah. Let me know how FedCon goes. I'm not sure. Is Gates going there? I think Marina's going to be there, right, Rashid?
[00:33:33] But again, I think, isn't there going to be a Star Trek con here at the end of the month? I think every single one that we're going to be having, there's going to be some kind of tribute for Patrick. Like there's just going to be, and Walter. Let's not forget Walter. He died two days before he did. I don't want to overshadow. So I remember when this was, this feels like Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson all over again. Okay. Because Farrah Fawcett had passed away that morning on the 9th of June. I think it was the 9th.
[00:34:01] And everyone was like, oh my gosh, because she had suffered from cancer. And then when Michael died, it was like, Farrah who? Farrah who? Like we completely forgot that Farrah died. So let's not forget Walter. I think it's just going to be a celebration for life for both amazing actors. Nikki says, oh yeah, Sarah, chain of command, all good things. Absolutely. Chuck does say all good things ending with Q. Oh gosh.
[00:34:26] As much as I hate season two, the ending with Q now in Picard season two, it's just hard to watch. Like even more so than it was before. Ozark Bear, I love attached in the chemistry between him and Beverly. Frustrated with the ending though. No joke. Beverly should have gone back instead of walking away, but she was protecting her heart. She was. She read his mind. He was saying, no, no, we're friends. But then realized, no, no, he's hiding his feelings.
[00:34:56] She didn't want to put her heart in line. I will die on that hill, guys. Rashid says, my favorite moment of Picard is definitely the scene where he stands up for data and the offspring. Hand his child over to the state, not while I'm his captain. That was a great moment. Also like a measure of the man when he was standing up for data, you know, against Bruce Maddox. Happy Book Run the Powers. That B wanted to put the kibosh on that in my opinion, most likely.
[00:35:25] And then, yes, check the trial, the trial state of measure in the man. I mean, we can name so many. We can name so many. And as much as I like eat the inner light, right? The ending part where he realized I'm the chosen one kind of thing as he's playing as the old man. It was brilliantly done. As much as some of these episodes that I cannot stand, people are mentioning Darmok, right? They're mentioning, oh, what's the other one?
[00:35:50] Oh, even with Jellicoe, like because that's chain of command, but just so many episodes that are not great, but he did. I mean, Drumhead. Drumhead has been mentioned a lot. You know, there was a video that someone pasted together and the beginning was data asking him, you know, what is death? And he's like, oh, is that all you're asking? You know, and he says his very amazing speech.
[00:36:18] But guys, it's just, that's what we loved so much about Picard versus like Kirk. There were, there are two total opposites, but that's why Generations was so good in that aspect to see Kirk and Picard together. I'm glad we got that because even though they were both the captain of the Enterprise, they were chosen for that specific ship. They're unique in their own way, but they are brilliant together.
[00:36:42] And to see us highlight the brilliance of Picard just showcases us why we loved him so much. Rashid says, hey, Chuck, thanks for saying hello. Rashid says, Gates, Jonathan, Brent, Marina will be at FedCon. Awesome. Sounds great. Right. The happy book, remind his part where Jean-Luc allows himself to be assimilated to save Jack, his worst nightmare after almost 40 years. And he faced it. Yes. I loved how he rushed up there.
[00:37:11] He's like, I've been running for half my life. And he's all like, but now I have something to go back for. I thought that was just an amazing moment for basically Picard being like, I have a son and I'm going to sacrifice myself to save him no matter what. Also, Chuck mentions this, the 1701 bridge scene in Picard season three. I'm so glad we got that guys. No joke. Happy bookworm. I did not like the highlight, but if you had to have it, it should have had an effect on him.
[00:37:38] Not an excuse for him to bang time store Beverly Nell. And that was really the only other time that he had mentioned that. I was like, how much Beverly knew about what happened to him in the inner light? Cause he barely said anything to Nella. So, cause people were arguing that, well, she should know that he would have been fine with having a kid because I had posted about their argument in sick bay in season three. And I was like, but did she really know what happened to him with the inner light?
[00:38:05] Like how much did he really express all that? I mean, I'm sure he expressed a lot of his feelings to Beverly as it was, but he did hold a lot in. He did have a wall up. So, or she does say Sir Patrick Stewart's death hit me so hard. I'm still hurting. TNG made me a Star Trek fan over 30 years ago. Captain McCarr was a huge reason why. I get it. I get it. That's why I'm here guys. That is why I'm here. Going back to Instagram real fast. TNG tech posts.
[00:38:34] I read that in his autobiography and thought Patrick women are, are not interchangeable. I think he's mentioning, they're mentioning about what I said about the ending of Picard season three. And then a small non-dramatic moment. But when Picard is alone with Beverly and remember me and just believes and supports her despite the evidence, bless him. And yeah, that is a good moment. I did enjoy that. He had that faith. And then that was her mind doing it. Right.
[00:39:02] But that was the kind of trust that they had. And so that's what showcased. Happy bookworm. I bet Beverly never knew. She might have said something about it regarding Jack. Possibly. Yeah. We don't know how much he shared. Like, obviously he shared his feelings about his father. That was mentioned in season three. But we don't know what he shared about his experiences in the inner light. Nikki does say Nella and Vash are the two women I didn't like. Preach. Preach. Here's the thing. I didn't like Vash, obviously.
[00:39:31] But Nella, I mean, she's fine. It's just, I don't. Yeah. She was the Timu of Beverly. She was the, he had a type. Let's put it that way. Okay. And then also says, she stated he kept saying he would never be a father. And that's, yes. She said he never wanted a family. And come on. And that's what he did. Going back to attached. Okay.
[00:39:58] He would say the complete opposite of how he felt. Right. So if he's telling her, I don't want to be a father. I don't want to be like my dad, blah, blah, blah. That's what she believes. Okay. She doesn't know what's going on inside and what he's holding in. Like, come on. She's not a psychic reader, guys. So she did what was best for her child. And Picard admitted it at the end. He's all like, you thought of Jack from the very beginning. You shielded him from danger. You did everything right. Bam. Boom. Done. End of discussion.
[00:40:28] Okay. Was it bad that he didn't get to raise Jack? Absolutely. And Beverly's going to have to live with that guilt. But she did it for the right reasons. Okay. So that is basically what it comes down to. But okay, guys. Real fast. I'm just going to jump into a redhead alert just to tell you a couple of things that I have planned. So here we go.
[00:40:59] Okay. So this last episode, instead of doing the tribute of Patrick, I was supposed to be talking about Prodigy Season 2 of Wesley's Return. So this is going to be actually my next episode, which is going to happen. What's going to happen? On the 19th of November. So please join me in the chat there on Trek The Growth Thursday.
